The cats have to extract wet, or dry kibble food from the cavities using their paws/claws to flip the food out, or force the silicon walls apart with their muzzle to get at the food. Rowan is feeding from it very rigorously, because her favourite fish flavoured kibble has been added to it. In the background on the floor is a wood newspaper caddy and wood stairs leading down to our front door.
