Apparently the “Taxi” option under Uber that I am used in Colombia to have the regulation of a taxi and the direct routing of an Uber is also available in Los Angeles. I am taking it home from LAX. Yes, it is cheaper than the regular Uber service and I waited no extra time for it.

In Colombia it was recommended to me to use Uber by Taxi. It would get the regulation of taxicabs but the direct routing of Ubers. It is true that the pricing for Taxis was less expensive than regular Ubers. Should Uber and Lyft make an arrangement with local taxi companies in the U.S.?

Guatape is such a pretty town. Very colorful. The bottom of buildings contain patterns which tell the story of the family’s history. I so grateful I got to visit it.

Of course I climbed La Piedra. I wasn’t intimidated by the climb because I did “Quadbuster” in ten AIDS/LifeCycles, but the heights made me a little woozy. Anyone who needs to say a prayer to Mary can do so half-way up. Breathtaking views at the top.

Loved this cruise around the El Peñol reservoir. The town was moved to make hydropower at the Guatape Dam. The cross indicates where the old town center was. The first photo is Maluma’s house. Famous celebrities and athletes have houses here.

I loved Medellin transit. Aerial Rapid Transit is an integrated part of the system to reach the barrios up the mountains. The train was frequent and clean. I ordered Taxis through the Uber app. So I got the convenience of an uber with the price and regulation of a taxi.

I had two profound spiritual experiences In Colombia. One in the Salt Cathedral and one in Comuna 13. This amazing neighborhood that has seen so much tragedy is a true resurrection story creativity and life. Breakdancing, rap, grafiti. My photos do not do it justice. Worth the entire trip.

At the Parque de los Pies Descalzos we are encouraged to take off our shoes, walk around, hug the trees, enjoy the bamboo forest and then wash our feet in the pool afterward. I have to admit my tired feet felt better.

At the Plaza Botero with sculptures donated by the famous artist. Apparently if you rub this statue’s breasts it is supposed to bring wealth, but she is not able to give consent so I passed. It is next to the beautiful Instituto de Cultura. Now I know where I want to hold my lecture series.
