Oh, that's awesome, I have no doubt she loved it. I miss the Topps comics, really enjoyed their Jurassic Park run. Excited to sit down and give this a full read. Also excited for that Power Girl book, preordered at my local brick & mortor.

I am too proud of myself for flipping pages and instantly recognizing artwork by Amanda Conner and @jimmypalmiotti.bsky.social before I even knew they did work in the book. Amazing stuff. Also, loving this TPB of old Topps #Xena comics. Love Goodwill finds. Gorgons, centauresses, petrification!

I have no notes. And don't want to risk any inadvertant spoilers.

Friend of mine in Ireland just came back from seeing the Amazing Digital Circus finale and it reminded me I need to start my social media blackout immediately. See ya'll Sunday afternoon!

$106.95, according to PriceCharting I use to track my collection. But would never give it up, fondly remembered times. Not the most financially valuable game in my collection.

Ooo, I haven't seen the logo. There's actually very little of the whole thing I have seen but it has left a big impression. The PS2 copies of the first GoW and Silent Hill 2 we played in college have been placed together on my shelf, FYI.

I have not owned/played a GOD OF WAR game since III because I haven't kept up with purchasing new Playstations. Would like to play the ones I missed, I hear they are good. The new one looks awesome as heck. I may preorder it even if I don't have a system yet! I want to support cool stuff like that!

If streaming wants to evolve it needs a 3rd choice between, "400 episodes where none of the characters change or evolve and they're all funny but shitty humans" and "3 - 5 seasons of a show that either has no resolution or the finale will make you hate having watched everything that came before it."

I am posting a lot today because: 1) a light is finally at the end if the tunnel on a big soul-crushing life thing that may finally conclude and open up my time/finances for more creative projects again. 2) going to #ColossalCon Prime with my partner was a much needed mental healing. More soon. ❤️

Still getting used to saying it about myself (despite feeling it long before I knew the correct term), but last year my partner helped me recognize that I am demisexual. Not sure if I have said it to more than just a few individuals here and there. Feels like a good day to say it more publicly.

It is almost as if telling an entire generation that Career and Love are easy and guaranteed and then dismantaling all the traditional methods of achieving that (for better or worse) while blaming that same generation for failing to grasp any of it wouldn't leave a twisted and bitter view of it...

I have been extremely lucky to attend @jococruise.bsky.social , @sizecon.bsky.social , and now #colossalcon, and if you want to see what joy looks like when a community can live their true selves without fear and just be excellent to each other you should attend one/all of these. #HappinessIs

I'm really tired of auto-correct now changing the tenses of my words. I don't need 'enters' to be "corrected" to 'entered', especially when it is grammatically correct the way I typed it!

How did this get so out of order?

020

Dan Standing @danstanding.bsky.social · 18/12/2025

...it's about getting paid and avoiding legal curfuffles, while pulling attention away from artists they dislike using the characters in perfectly legal ways. So it is imperative to keep supporting artists who (via Fair Use and Parody) have more respect for the art/purpose of these characters. 5/5

020

Dan Standing @danstanding.bsky.social · 18/12/2025

...shitposts, Donald flying a plane into [redacted], whatever, already get made. But now Disney will get paid and can yell at Sora to take things down, instead of treading into Fair Use/Parody litigation. It's not, and never has been, about the purity if the characters or creativity... 4?/?

220

Dan Standing @danstanding.bsky.social · 18/12/2025

...and as public domain reaches some of the characters it would get "worse." So Disney figures it makes sense to be paid by Sora to let people do some of it on a path of least resistance...and on a platform Disney cab yell at when something really goes off the rails... 3/?

030

Dan Standing @danstanding.bsky.social · 18/12/2025

...and sometimes Disney sues (lose money, bad press) and sometimes they don't (someone else gets money/attention). But if the masses can do that in Sora, they will. Disney probably thinks this will pull attention/support from the artists who already do it... 2/?

120

Dan Standing @danstanding.bsky.social · 18/12/2025

Uhg, so, I realized WHY why Disney did the Sora licensing deal. Obviously, people are going to make the characters do terrible things, no matter what guiderails are put on. But that's not the point - artists already draw the characters doing all sort of shit... 1/?

I've not played @adhocstudio.com 's Dispatch, only seen spattering of short vids across social media. But if your character work is so good I start to tear up when I realize [REDACTED] is going sacrifice themselves AND I UNDERSTAND WHY you've achieved an S tier level of character development.

God, yeah, I hate the word "content" for stuff I view as art. I will never apply it to someone else's work, written or visual. One should not dismiss one's own efforts as disposable to the churning of the 'algorithm relevance machine.' NSFW art is art.

Dan Standing @danstanding.bsky.social · 24/09/2025

Oh certainly, aleays stuff to workndofferently. I don't even think those stories are bad. It just becomes how to handle the challenge of keeping both yourself and the reader from getting confused if you do tackle the full challenge.
