Canada's wealth gap appeared to narrow between 2019 and 2023. Huh? @danskilleter.bsky.social finds that the dip was largely a mirage, driven by a pandemic housing boom that temporarily inflated the one asset ordinary Canadians hold: their home. 📰 Read the article: tinyurl.com/SCPideas #CdnPoli

🚨New video🚨 As Canadians, we like to think we’re strong and free. But, when it comes to the wealth gap, we’re looking more like America Lite—better manners, but almost all the inequality. #CdnPoli #CanadaSky #Wealth #EconSky

Nice to see Premier Kinew leaning into competition issues. The Competition Bureau can only do so much. Some of the really awful behaviour taking place in sectors is easier to deal with provincially given what they already have powers over. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Well, however understated these wealth figures are they can serve as a useful basis for creating new wealth concentration figures (top 0.1%) - like the PBO has undertaken previously. StatsCan still shows no interest in doing this work themselves. macleans.ca/society/cana...
