Here’s the most incredible story you’ll read today. A small plane with four people aboard crashes in a field. Another pilot witnesses it. That pilot happens to be flying a bunch of skydivers. They offer to jump to assist, are given permission. The skydivers happen to be EMTs. Everyone survives.

Yes we should observe to the max extent but there is no requirement to do so. We have an entire portfolio of standoff weapons that fly hundreds of miles over the span of hours (JASSM, Tomahawk etc) to targets with no direct observer.

I read a paper this past week that showed here soon there will not be enough eligible officers to fulfill my MAJCOMs command list at the normal ratio. And the manning numbers aren't getting better behind those YGs.

It's a very human reliant operation to have someone that can look at all the systems and across classification levels to give you an answer. That however doesn't mean we don't care where that money goes and making sure it gets spent where Congress intended

As someone that works in a service level budget job, we track the money very closely the problem is up and down the chain there's different systems of records used and those systems cross multiple classification levels and they were never built with the intent to talk to each other.

Drones are a poor man's air force. Are they good, useful, effective? Yes absolutely for ground units it's an absolute force multiplier and a threat they must honor but you don't see any nation that can afford it cancelling aircraft contracts to pour money into drones.

We have a book club at work and one of the books recently was the bomber book. The club leader asked my thoughts on the book selection and I told them Gladwell should stop writing books on things he knows nothing about.
