51 yrs ago today, Muhammad Ali TKO14 Joe Frazier in their 3rd fight, a battle of aging legends, to retain the heavyweight title in the iconic "Thrilla in Manila." As Ali said after, "It was like death. Closest thing to dying that I know of." Here's a glove signed by both in my #boxing collection.

21 yrs ago tonight on the Barrera-Peden HBO PPV undercard, Leavander Johnson lost the IBF lightweight title by TKO11 to Jesus Chavez & days later his life due to a brain injury suffered in the bout. I wrote about it extensively at the time & have never forgotten it. #RIP
