Anyway, this pattern of "we love Jews, can you believe what they did to them!?" is not new. Go check out Dara Horn's book People Love Dead Jews if you're interested in understanding this pattern. www.darahorn.com/book/people-...

People Love Dead Jews - Dara Horn
A startling exploration of how Jewish history is exploited to flatter and comfort the living

This also isn't what we've seen for other groups in what are typically described as progressive spaces. It repeatedly feels like ideas of allyship have fallen short in supporting the Jewish community.

But think that encourages a culture where hateful things become socially accepted. Nobody is there to push back and show it's not okay. And so you can have a musician put out a song called "Heil Hitler" and still have people go buy tickets to their shows.

Daniel Rosenwasser @danr.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
No one seems to call it out even when it's just out there. I'm sure some of it is obliviousness. But think another part of it is discomfort - nobody wants to make other people uncomfortable or imply culpability if they think it's "obviously" bad. Or maybe it's power: "what does my opinion do?"

People love using discrimination against Jews as an example of something theoretical that happened in *some other country* in *some other time period*. But not here! They can't fathom or admit it's happening now in their own country.

This happened. In the United States. In 2014.
A photo of Macklemore performing Thrift Shop - a song about saving money while shopping in a thrift store - while dressed as a racist racist caricature of a Jewish man.

Probably something about hoisting behavior? It probably avoids issues with mutually recursive functions across modules. But if you ask me that's kind of an obnoxious coding style anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We can't check files independently, because they reach into each other and we don't have thread-safe checker state. We can spawn multiple threads with their own type-checker state, but that has a lot of overhead and duplication of work.

TypeScript 7 does everything with maximum parallelism, with the exception of more modest parallelism in type-checking.

My editor using mdx-content-mapper is now showing TypeScript info for frontmatter and code blocks.
An MDX file with two JavaScript code blocks. One is hovered and shows information about the code. The other highlights a type error. An MDX file with YAML frontmatter data and a variable named frontmatter. Hover information for the frontmatter variable shows the TypeScript type of the frontmatter data.

I just published an initial draft of an MDX content mapper. Content mappers are a new type of plugin system for an upcoming version of TypeScript that will allow you to type check MDX, Vue, Astro, etc. The approach is inspired by, but doesn’t use Volar. Thanks @andrewbran.ch for working on this! 💖

I don't necessarily know if the same conclusions translate to UI. The win you might get with a class is that instances can be smaller because methods live on the prototype. So yeah, profile things between both CPU and memory based on your application! It's cheap to run experiments nowadays!

It depends on your needs but generally this pattern is faster at runtime. Closure variables can be resolved "more statically" than resolution of a member on 'this'. It's a big part of why the TypeScript 1.1 rewrite saw such a big speedup.
