WILL EISNER: A COMICS BIOGRAPHY - Developing the character designs: Will as a young man. Most of the photos of Will in his 20s & 30s show him at work, which is okay, since we show him at work a lot, too. But definitely needed the non-work pictures as well. Coming soon from @nbmpub.bsky.social

"Will Eisner: a Comics Biography." An early study, based on this photo of Eisner, adding his mom in the BG to make it a bit of a "moment." It didn't end up in the book, but here's a similar scene, Will working on his first pro assignment. Coming soon from @NBMPUB. #comics #graphicnovel

I can think of only one song that contains the lyric, "send a copy to my lawyer."

Out of the blue, I got a request from a Will Eisner fan in Germany for a sketch card, showing Will with The Spirit. It took me a while to get to it, but I sent it off last week. #willeisner #inkonpaperdrawing #comics #comicartwork #comicsart #comicsartist #TheSpirit

From 2004, a strip I drew for the Topanga Canyon Messenger -- very site-specific. I wonder how many of these wrecks are still there. #comics, #comicstrip #inkonpaper #topangacanyon #topanga #brushandink

From 2005, "Lummox" was the first long-form comic I finished. It started as a riff on Wolverton and Segar, and I just kept going. It was serialized in the Topanga Messenger newspaper and then as 4 mini-comics. Full story is posted here: www.danmazurcomics.com/read-my-comi...

www.danmazurcomics.com/2025/01/20/h... The last shot of "Vendetta of a Samurai" (1952, d. Kazuo Mori) is an amazing piece of filmmaking and acting. I drew an homage to what Toshiro Mifune does in that closeup of 25 seconds or so.

Cover for Will Eisner: a Comics Biography by me & Steve Weiner, coming in July from @nbmpub.bsky.social The first, deemed too noirish & dark (both literally and metaphorically), so re-colored & changed from Midnight to Dawn (or Dusk, if you prefer). I kind of like the change, what do you think?
