I did it. I bought a book trolley! (now to just stop buying books) (just kidding that will never happen)

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 22/04/2025

Huge thanks to @bantambooksuk.bsky.social @transworldbooks.bsky.social for this stunning hardback proof of Spellbound by Georgia Leighton. So excited to read this one and this copy is beyond beautiful! 😍

My shelves are bending! While I’m taking all the books off to deep clean the bookcase, I’m replacing the shelves upside down so they essentially bend upwards…in the hope they will bend the other way and straighten…that’s physics right? Anyone else had this issue with their shelves?

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 13/04/2025

In the process of removing books from my shelf and replacing them, I have somehow managed to lose one book and not been able to fit them all back on the same bookcase! How does this even happen?!

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 13/04/2025

I’m doing a deep clean of my bookshelves while I’m off this week and oh my god, taking all the books off my shelves is a workout in and of itself! And then finding space for them while I deep clean the shelves is a Herculean task 😂🙈

Worked a 10 hour and just getting to enjoy the sunshine now! Almost finished The First Sister by Linden A. Lewis!

When I say to a friend I’ll check my personal library for a book they want to read and their response is “that could take a few years”… They’re not wrong 😂

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 09/04/2025

Okay so I finished The Poppy War series a while ago but I needed time to sit with it before articulating my thoughts.

Okay, I love Ava Reid books, but Fable for the End of the World was mesmerising. The prose was so beautiful and lyrical I was just constantly finding myself in awe. It was just absolutely brilliant. Blending such a Hunger Games style violence with such genuinely beautiful prose…👏🏻👏🏻

The Burning God by @rfkuang.bsky.social was one of the best books I have ever read. But I don’t think I can ever forgive what happened to Venka and Kitay. I’ll need therapy and I’ll still never recover.

Publishing and poetry people, I need assistance. I have found a wealth of poems by dad wrote over the years before he died, and I wanted to get them published in his memory. Any advice on how to go about this? Self publishing? Trad? Any help is appreciated!

I came across a snippet I wrote in my notes app for my book and…it’s actually pretty amazing? Like, that one paragraph absolutely hits! I can’t remember when I wrote it or what I was thinking, but thanks past me!

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 05/03/2025

I said I was going to read something lighthearted and optimistic…and instead I chose this 😂 But I have read it before and know I loved it! So I got halfway there 🙈

Just finished Death of a Bookseller! It was a great book, it had amazing slow building tension and a poetic ending. It also left me in such a weird mood. Like the darkness of the book has seeped into my everyday life, which honestly is a testament to the great writing of @aliceslater.bsky.social

220

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 04/03/2025

Have you ever read a book where the main characters are absolutely horrid people, and it actually alters your mood? I’m liking the book, it’s a great book, but I feel that since I started reading it my mood has taken a nosedive 😂🙈

020

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 03/03/2025

I am so late to this one, but I’m currently reading Death of a Bookseller by @aliceslater.bsky.social (and wearing my Bleep beanie hat ofc) Loving the vibes of this one!

I finally got around to reading The Miseducation of Cameron Post, a book I have been meaning to read for years now. And I’m not quite sure how to adequately review this one. I enjoyed reading it, if “enjoyed” can really be the right word for a book with this kind of content.

I’ve been a bit absent the past week. Haven’t had a day off work so far and been extremely exhausted! However, I did finish Four Ruined Realms by Mai Corland (thanks @zaffrebooks.bsky.social) and loved it! Very Six of Crows/Among Thieves. I’m now reading The Miseducation of Cameron Post (finally)!

020

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 21/02/2025

Finished Five Broken Blades and I loved it! Reminds me of Six of Crows in some ways, but completely it’s own thing. Reading Four Ruined Realms now! Thanks @zaffrebooks.bsky.social for the copies 😍

Okay, it’s that time again. Recommend your favourite books for me to read in 2025! Any genre. What’s a book you have absolutely adored and think more people should read? 👇🏻👇🏻

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 07/02/2025

I have just this second finished reading The Lotus Empire by @tashasuri.bsky.social and…I don’t even know what to say (i think the tabs speak for themselves!) I adore this series. This series has broken me in more ways than I can count, but it was all worth it for that ending (1/2) #booksky

You don’t want to see how many tabs I have for this book now I’ve almost finished it… It’s a ridiculous amount. #booksky

How to tell I’m enjoying my book… I have tabs EVERYWHERE! My current read 👇🏻

I’m not feeling well so I thought I would update my book journal and try something a little different. I tailored these journal pages to the books. The first, if you’ve read Lincoln Rhyme, you’ll know as one of his Unsub whiteboards for Book 16. The second book had heavy flower imagery throughout.

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 31/01/2025

I hate working the late shifts at work because what do you mean I start at 1 and don’t finish until 1030 or later? 😭 that’s my day completely gone.

If there is one novelty mug that can sum me up as a person, let it be this one.

You guys…I was convinced I had lost my Kindle at some point last year… I just found it! On my bed unit! Where I keep the book I’m reading! It was literally underneath each book I have read over the past year, and I just didn’t notice it! (now i need to find the charger)

The lovely people at Datura Books sent me a beautifully packaged copy of Be Mine by @bylizzybarber.bsky.social With an extra special tattoo too 😝 Can’t wait to read this one! Out May 13th! #booksky

“Are some patterns destined to be repeated?” Captivating, harrowing, and heartbreaking, I simply could not put this one down. Sofi and Lara’s story reached right into my soul and proceeded to rip it out. The Woman in the Wallpaper is out NEXT MONTH @littlebrownbooks.bsky.social @lorajones.com

Forgot to mention that I’m getting all these from the local library, so it’s a win-win-win. I get to read more books, the library gets used, and the authors get paid.

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 26/01/2025

Okay, I’m doing a thing in 2025 where I read other people’s favourite books. I have a few on the list already, but hit me up with your favourite books and I’ll add them! #booksky #reading

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 22/01/2025

You know when you’re reading a book and you’re really not enjoying it but you’re kind of intrigued to see how it ends anyway so you’re just skimming it to finish? Yeah that’s me right now.

020

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 17/01/2025

I have heard such great things about this book, and it’s taken me forever to get around to it, but I’m finally reading Only A Monster! @hodderbooks.bsky.social @vanessalen.bsky.social

After finishing Nona the Ninth I can safely say one of two things. Either I am A) Much more in tune with this bonkers world now, or B) More insane than I thought I was because I actually understood everything that was going on

Came home to some very exciting book mail today! Thank you so much @zaffrebooks.bsky.social for the copies of Five Broken Blades and Four Ruined Realms! And the extra goodies! (I was running out of tabs!) #booksky #bookmail

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 16/01/2025

I have almost finished Nona the Ninth and I have two thoughts: Tamsyn Muir is a genius and I’m terrified of her brain. I might be in love with Ianthe Tridentarius.

Mum: Why are you wearing an old lady blanket? Friend: Why are you wearing curtains? Other Friend: Why are you wearing a patchwork quilt? 😂🙈

OH. MY. GOD. I have been dying to get my hands on a paperback copy of Evocation forever! And now it’s here! I might have squealed… (I did squeal). Thank you thank you thank you @angryrobotbooks.bsky.social for this! Paperback is out March 2025! @stgibson.bsky.social

So many quotes I could have used here, but not enough space! I absolutely love the Locked Tomb series. I’m reading Nona the Ninth now! #booksky #bookjournal

020

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 13/01/2025

These are the deep and literary thoughts I will be using this journal for. Profound.

010

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 13/01/2025

I’m not very arty, but I thought I would attempt a pretty book journal to mark all my reads this year. This is my first entry and first try at being arty! Quite proud of myself. I could have written pages about this book but wanted to keep it short! 😂🙈 #booksky

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 12/01/2025

Currently reading Nona the Ninth and if the previous two books gave me a headache, I think this one is going to give me a brain bleed. Who the hell is Nona? Why is she in what I presume is Harrow’s body? Where is Gideon? Palamedes? What?

000

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 11/01/2025

Surprisingly, after reading Harrow the Ninth for the (maybe fifth) time, I actually understood some of what was happening! Either that or I’m just as insane as Harrow.

030

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 10/01/2025

I was obviously so relaxed yesterday evening when I was reading, because my Watch seems to think I was asleep for a few hours 😂

Assassins, thieves, liars…the time has come! #FourRuinedRealms, Book Two in the #BrokenBlades series, is out now! Order here - geni.us/FourRuinedReal… @zaffrebooks.bsky.social #booksky

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 06/01/2025

Mum: you’re supposed to be writing your own book, not journaling about others. Me: journaling about the books I’ve read actually helps me write mine!

020

Dani @danijanecox.bsky.social · 06/01/2025

I’ve just bought myself a lovely personalised notebook so I can write and draw beautiful reviews of the books I read. Now I just need some pretty pens/pencils/colours to design the pages with. Any recommendations on where I can get decent ones? Not children’s ones.
