Here is a good example of disingenuous framing from that piece. We do not, in fact, need to build $1 trillion worth of new data centers just to keep using Waze, Uber, Instagram, and all of the other apps that have been working just fine with the existing infrastructure
But if we want to continue to enjoy using Instagram and Waze, streaming movies, banking online, hailing an Uber or conversing with A.I. chatbots, we are going to need more data centers.

I know we have a hundred reasons to be upset at what remains of our country’s media but this framing is borderline malpractice. “Even as”? Where do you think the winnings are coming from?

The Reflecting Pool story keeps getting funnier and funnier. This guy owns the company that got the no-bid contract to redo the water purification system for The Reflecting Pool and of course he's a long-time Trump donor. But you know the best part? The name of his company? Greenwater Services.

Okay I know he tried to assassinate some folks but you didn’t have to do him this dirty. Wow. Talk about cruel and unusual punishment.
Excerpt from an NYT article: “He has connections to game development.

On Facebook and LinkedIn accounts that appear to be connected to him, Mr. Allen described himself as an independent game developer, posting about a game called “Bohrdom” that he released in 2018.

Described as “a skill-based, nonviolent asymmetrical fighting game loosely derived from a chemistry model that is itself loosely based on reality,” the game appeared to have almost no reviews and almost no followers before Saturday on its social media accounts.”

Closing the strait is WORLD EXTORTION, Trump says to Iran, and that is OUR job.
News update from the NYT reading: “President Trump accused the Iranians of “world extortion” for closing the strait, and said that the United States Navy would begin its own blockade of the route. His comments signaled an escalation in naval activity around the strait. He said that the Navy would begin stopping ships that had paid a toll to the Iranians for usage of the strait, and that the military would begin destroying underwater mines placed in the waters. “Any Iranian who fires at us, or at peaceful vessels, will be BLOWN TO HELL!” Trump said.”

When you’re a famous literary critic you can just throw out outrageous statements as obviously true facts in a little “such as” phrase and move on and no one will call you on your bullshit. Truly the dream.
Quote from Northrop Frye’s “Anatomy of Criticism”: Much of the hero’s life is spent with animals, or at any rate the animals that are incurable romantics, such as horses, dogs, and falcons, and the typical setting of romance is the forest.

Here's another fun fact about that show (Mystère)
The snail seen growing larger throughout the show is called Alice. By the end of the show, she is a giant inflatable puppet controlled by four puppeteers from the inside. The puppeteers move her around by following markings on the floor, since they can not see outside the puppet. They also control her eyes, torso, and tail.
