Daniel Werwath @danielwerwath.bsky.social · 06/10/2026It hasn’t hit national news yet but this just happened in Santa Fe too, ICE caught falsifying records pertaining to arrest and falsely accusing someone of being a child sexual predator to justify his detention www.santafenewmexican.com/news/local_n...santafenewmexican.comHe had legal status, no criminal convictions; ICE jailed and arrested him anywayEdgar Chacon-Miranda, the face of the ICE crackdown in Santa Fe, had U visa protections. Daniel Werwath @danielwerwath.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Not to mention that most states with housing shortages cannot import workers without exacerbating housing affordability so your only option across a bunch of socioeconomic bands Is increased labor participation, of which childcare is one of the main obstacles. 001

Daniel Werwath @danielwerwath.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Here in Santa Fe where we’ve regulated STR since the early 2000’s- I’m struck by how permit caps make STR’s more lucrative by keeping them scarce and valuable. Creates small number of winners and a lot of incentive to avoid permitting. 050

Daniel Werwath @danielwerwath.bsky.social · 09/08/2026I’ve built several, they work great, much more high volume than most commercial units unless you get up in the $3-500 range. They do take up a fair amount of space. If you’re dealing with extreme smoke, especially ground settling in evenings I think they work better than most commercial filters. 140

Daniel Werwath @danielwerwath.bsky.social · 01/07/2026This will, at best, raise rents on new housing in Santa Fe, at worst, cut off new supply AND funding into the trust fund. Daniel Werwath @danielwerwath.bsky.social · 19/06/2026The issue is that the number was picked arbitrarily and now there mayor is trying to rally political support on social media. Daniel Werwath @danielwerwath.bsky.social · 13/06/2026This is a malpractice level headline. Public entities build public infrastructure all the time. It’s not a bailout. Daniel Werwath @danielwerwath.bsky.social · 12/06/2026At what point are we going to stop this minoritarian nonsense? Either it meets the code or it doesn’t, more community meetings with people that don’t want any new housing don’t change that. Daniel Werwath @danielwerwath.bsky.social · 29/05/2026Coupled that with affordable rental production to get people off rental assistance in a couple of years and pursue system reforms that increase entry level housing and lower construction costs. It’s doable but means rejecting a long standing tradition— political discretion over who gets money 000
Daniel Werwath @danielwerwath.bsky.social · 29/05/2026we could start with spending money more strategically and not relying on politicians (mostly the governor) to pick who gets homelessness money.
