No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

What I think my website really needs at this point is one of those fake “someone in [location] just purchased [book title]” popup tickers. It’s okay to lie on the internet, so I don’t really see a downside.

Things that keep an indie author going: caffeine, stubbornness, and texts like this one. Text your favorite author today. Text them multiple times. Never stop texting. Ever.
A dark-mode text message from a friend: "I'm halfway through House of Nepenthe. Although there are many interesting and enjoyable parts to it, the line that keeps making me giggle like the adolescent I never grew out of is, 'Your mom gives blowies in shoulder pads.'" Below it, the paperback of House of Nepenthe, with a stormy cover showing ravens, a ruined house, and a hedge maze, next to a mock five-star blurb reading "A serious book." attributed to "Nobody."

Nobody in this house is happier to see me in the morning than the box of Pop Tarts I keep hidden behind the books on my shelf.

Enjoyed this post from Novlr. I'm still not reading anything while I'm writing a first draft... but only because seeing someone write better than I ever could really puts a damper on productivity. www.novlr.org/the-reading-...

Should I stop reading while I'm writing my own book? | The Reading Room
Worried that everything you read is bleeding into your own book? Here's why that's less of a problem than it feels like, and what stepping away from reading altogether actually costs you.

If the Dallas Cowboys can keep showing up year after year, you can keep writing your book.

A browser extension that turns an Amazon cart into a 3d-rendered TBR book pile image? Yes, that sounds like something you should absolutely build for me for free. danielverastiqui.com/my-personal-...

My personal recession indicator? My TBR pile now lives in my Amazon cart.
Things are tough all over. Prices are up, wallets are thin, and in homes across America, TBR piles are quietly migrating to Amazon's "Saved for Later" section.

Stories I Tell My Daughter: The Snowman and the Flower
Waldor wanted nothing more in his life than to see a beautiful flower. Where he lived, it was always cold, and flowers never had a chance to grow.

The fun thing about writing an alt reality is that when it needs its own alt reality, you can just use... our reality. Hence Hybrid Mechanics, where survivors wake from a simulation of 2017 Austin, Texas into something much worse. 😱 #free on #kindle through 9/5. Get it here: amzn.to/4wZScAG
An image of Hybrid Mechanics books, with a note: to do, take a picture of this book to post on social media to let people know it is FREE on Kindle for the next few days, followed by the item "scalding shower," implying that posting on social media somehow makes you "dirty." Ah, humor.
