Yes, dodgy immigration practitioners exist and some people do lie on asylum claims. Based on BBC reporting though, people"d think it was far more widespread than it is, and completely fail to grasp how hard it can be to get asylum based on being LGBTQIA+ alone. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I am pretty sure that isn't the biggest issue voters in the Holborn and St Pancras by-election are concerned about George, but I guess it is hard for him to tell being a raging wazzock who hasn't visited the constituency. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
“The biggest issue in the H&StP byelection is the path leading us to WW3 in Ukraine,” Galloway wrote on X in the middle of September, an argument that has not gained much traction with voters, though he has chosen to repeat it online – the only way he can reach voters personally before Thursday’s byelection.

Considering the context of the thread you are responding to, specify exactly which groups's rights you are happy to see removed to fulfil whatever inane point you are trying to make. This isn't a request for some debate, it's a simple question for you to answer with specific group/groups

Whatever people think of "lesser of two evils" reasoning it is a much bigger ask when the "lesser evil" is actually to the right of what used to be the position of the "greater evil" party.

Essential grim reading from one of my favourite posters. You cannot ask people to support political parties that want to erase their existence. And if you are in such a political party, I hope you're trying really hard to make them stay their hand. You'd better be *really* unpopular with them..

To use technical terminology, utter bollocks. It is repeatedly shown that rhetoric like this causes more harm to inclusive communities than migration or differences in race, religion etc. The whole "no go zones" is a well worn, and well disproven, far right trope. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Labour, a supposedly left wing party, have made me more fearful to be myself than I've ever been. More fearful to be open, although I obviously still am because I am a belligerent sod, because they have made attacks on my community "acceptable" to the centre and left. At best our rights are ignored.

Dan Sohege @danielsohege.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
That is not because of way right would look at me, treat me, or abuse me. I am far too used to that. Years of bullying for being bi alone geared for that. No, my fear is I can't even be in "centre or left wing spaces" without being treated like I shouldn't exist for dressing as my gender identity.

Yes, of course a Reform or Conservative government would be worse for rights overall, but for marginalised groups currently facing the largest curtailment of human rights under Labour, you really are arguing that we are necessary casualties to ensure other people are okay. There's a poem about that.
28715
Dan Sohege @danielsohege.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
A large part of that is because of how, to varying degrees across parties on the centre left/left, issues such as trans rights, migrants rights, genuinely combatting racism, including antisemitism and Islamophobia, are just ignored as part of a wider argument that "the right are worse".

Dan Sohege @danielsohege.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
I firmly do not subscribe to the seemingly increasingly prevalent thing of "if you don't agree on absolutely everything" you aren't left wing, but when it comes to my key non-negotiables I'm increasingly of opinion I can't support any major party even without being a member. bsky.app/profile/dani...

It is incredibly telling, to me at least, how Cameron and May were more progressive on trans rights, and yet even those areas of recognition are being rolled back/completely destroyed by Labour, yet trans and non-binary individuals are ignored, talked over, and told to shut up and support Labour.

Herein lies one of the biggest recurring, and escalating, issues with hostile anti-asylum policies, they don't tackle gangs. Instead they penalise the victims of gangs. It isn't the gangs piloting boats, it is normally people seeking asylum who are forced to by the gangs. inews.co.uk/news/represe...

Genuinely mean this nicely, but doesn't that speak to a huge problem in and of itself that 0.01% of members can pass a motion guaranteed to feed into antisemitism, no matter the good intentions of at least some supporting it, by its very language, and which means any other policies will be ignored?
