I think this is a kind of tactico groupthink nonsense and English football in general is actually moving away from this model. There’s zero PL teams who’ve actually had success off winning things that’s operated this model. Arsenal tried it and ended up at “give the manager all the power.”

I think people are drawn to the wonderkid from the Bundesliga or France but the truth is it’s very hard to come into the PL atm. A seasoned guy who knows how to score goals from midfield is worth its weight in signing on fees.

He’s always had talent but never quite was able to put it all together. But he kind of knows what he’s good at and not good at now. Keeps things simple and then when he’s in that half space on the right edge of the box he’s deadly.
