True. I wonder if the plots are written by committee and guided by focus groups. I also watched some of Space 1999 on Kanopy. I think filmed in 70s? The actors did not have gym toned bodies. Their faces had creases and lines. No puffed lips. They looked natural and real.

I gave away my complete x-files collection when we moved last month. thinking I might regret that a little. Original Mission Impossible is fantastic. I notice even the actors bodies, voices, and mannerisms are different from now. There is violence but nothing like now. Historic & interesting.

Midway through Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides (2002). Pulitzer Prize winner. Has sold 4M copies. So I am late to this book. I got a lot out of the Turkish ethnic cleansing of Greek Anatolia via point of view of survivors, and their experiences as immigrants. So far ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. #Booksky #Reading

The experiences of survivors of Turkish invasion / ethnic cleansing of Greek Anatolia, through the eyes of survivors, is very compelling. History is an infinite source of insight, context, and even a great diversion. I was always a science and medicine guy, but since retiring I read history all of the time. Even learning things that don't seem related to us now, like ancient MesoAmerica, Mesopotamia, China, teach so much. Enjoy!

Just finished Carl Hiassen's "Skin Tight". Kind of fun, sardonic, light reading. Read as e-book via library. Probably not politically correct in spots but fits the era. Fun and got me anxious to read more. Written before AI slop era started. Got me reading more again. #reading #books #Hiaasen

I added some more books to my Kobo library. It takes time to decondition from internet slop & scrolling & sky is falling. Even if it is, we can't always look up. Also use Kobo to check out library books. Most of these were on deep sale. No AI in older books. #reading #Kobo #classics #e-reader

Thanks for your comments on AI. I could see it for interpreting Xrays and CT scans, other medical things, and design of some things for safety or effectiveness. But it's a Pandora's Box. The harms sound massive, wasteful, irreversible. Do people really need it for everyday use?

"Dead" philodendron now. Sat in unused room for 2 yrs, no water or a/c. Just a tip of green remained. I cut off dead roots, stem rot, dead leaves, gave TLC. Initially wrapped in moist paper towel, then seed starting medium, then potting soil. Pics 2 & 3 were cleaned up stem. #houseplants #cuttings

Revived philodendron plant, about 6 weeks after cleaning up remaining piece from neglected, almost dead plant. Now a big new shiny green leaf.

This is year 15. I was on #gleevec ( #imatinib ) for 12 years. It worked and was mostly a lot easier to take than #sunitib but was stopped because it led to pulmonary fibrosis. If you have this diagnosis I'm happy to share my experiences.

(continued) Most difficult for me is tongue and mouth changes. Hot spices (chilis cayenne salsa sriracha, and cinnamon, clove, mint) cause very painful burning. Also anything acidic. Oh well... Also muscle /joint soreness. Lost 10 pounds. Still I am very grateful and am contented.

This is my #GIST (rare cancer). CT scan showed tumor slightly smaller despite delayed treatment. #sunitimib effective so far, oncologist says it will probably continue to be. Effects on body systems challenging. Most fears is hand/foot pain complex, but urea very helpful. (continued)

It's encouraging that the majority of WA voters are using drop boxes. Still, with the war on voting, I think there's a vulnerability in the ballots being mailed out to voters. there should be a pick-up method or revert to in person voting.

At this point, with all of the election interference, I think states should go to paper ballots to be picked up at voting stations or similar places and delivered to drop boxes or at the voting stations. I loved voting by mail. I believe it's more accessible and democratic. But it is what it is.

I think it's totally what happened with humans. I'm disappointed with how impersonal they are and how they find ways to drive up costs. While the vet pushes annual complete physical, my doctor says a complete physical isn't needed. I haven't had my shirt off at a dr office in probably 20 years.

I downoaded Mapquest. I think less convenience than Apple Maps. I doubt it has warnings about traffic delays. I don't know if it will interface with my car or as seamlessly. I think it's always good to see what's out there and look at the options. I probably am too dependent on gps anyway.

It seems like dropping off a ballot at a drop box should be pretty easy. Although here in Clark County someone set fire to two drop boxes... What I'm trying to understand is how the states can get ballots to people when the USPS is trying to prevent that. I couldn't see a way for that.

I transplanted the remaining four St Johns Wort cuttings that I started mid June. Very rewarding. I wish more people started plants themselves. Lots of roots and fast top growth. Now each has its own container and they are in actual potting soil. #gardening #plantpropagation #cuttings

What a nightmare for you! My biggest worry. So glad you got her back. Rufus has a chip, collar tag, dog tags, registration. But those wont stop a car from running him over. Love is hard sometimes.

Thank you. That must have been a nice rose. I don't want to crowd things. Plus the main reason for moving was aging out of the ability to take care of so much. Plus country life here has some sacrifices and challenges that are hard for me now. Getting to keep the fig tree is a big treat.

Sounds good. I like the lentils for the protein. If I had a better binder, I could slice it for sandwiches. Maybe increase to 2 eggs, or increase the oatmeal? Or add chia seeds? Trying to keep carb intake down too.

My final legacy from my old garden. I started this fig tree 2 or 3 years ago by air layer. Lattarula or White Marseilles fig. Most productive and reliable in my yard. I also grew its parent from a cutting, two houses ago. A bit droopy after replanting. Fingers crossed. 🌱 #homeorchard #figs

Fig tree out of the ground for transplanting. It was out of the ground a few hours for transplant and digging. I think 90% of the roots are intact. I pruned a few broken ones.

I cut the top 2 feet or so, leaving about 3.5 feet. Cut to decrease transpiration.

Despite the bad transplanting season and sone wilting, I hope that with sone TLC it will survive and grow.

Transplanted Lattarula fig tree, late August 2926. There is some first- day wilting but I think it will recover with plenty of watering and some TLC and good luck.

I made another lentil loaf. The one I made last week held together nicely. This one was more crumbly. I don't know why. But still good. I used one egg and 1/3 cup coarsely chopped oatmeal flakes for binders. I like it with some mustard. #vegetarian #plantprotein #frugalcooking

Last night I made keto cheesecake. Crust - almond flour, softened butter, monkfruit sweetener, vanilla. Filling - cream cheese, sour cream, vanilla, eggs, stevia powder. it had decadent texture and flavor. Topping- sugarfree strawberry jam. Blood sugar level remainedgood. #keto #baking
