My homework for Juneteenth. I was only able to identify this one female former slave actor. I found many other male former slave actors, including Powhatan Beaty, Johnny R. Matlock, and Henry “Box” Brown. #Juneteenth #BlackHistory #TheatreHistory #ActorsLife

The image includes at the top a photo of a black man, left, and two photos of a women, right. Below these photos is this text:
Two formerly enslaved Americans who were actors were William Wells Brown (left) and Nancy Green (right). Both were born into slavery near Mount Sterling, Kentucky.
Brown escaped to free territory in Ohio in 1834 at the age of 19 and became known as an abolitionist, novelist, playwright, and historian. He often performed dramatic excerpts from his play The Escape.
Green became known as “Aunt Jemima,” performing as the character at countless live promotional events.

I was afraid neighbors might call the police if I self-taped this top-of-my-lungs scream of agony in my apartment, so some friends generously offered their home and a reader. (And it was during a thunderstorm.) #SelfTape #ScreenActor #NYCactor #NYactor #FilmActor

This is age 67½. Sometimes I feel like casting expects us all to have gray hair, but I do know that they know better & if they want gray hair they ask for gray hair. Yes, I can be cast younger, as long as they don’t shoot my liver spots &c. So, yes, a first-world, lucky-genes problem. #ActorsLife

ICYMI, #CastingNetworks is raising fees that our reps pay for their side of the service. CN suggests that it will reduce the burden on actors w/o specifying how much it would be reduced. Let’s see both rep & actor fees at the same time! #ActorsLife #ScreenActor #FilmCasting #TVcasting

The Opioid Trilogy, Ep. 2: Do No Harm premieres on PBS on Sept. 16. (Local time may vary.) The 2nd installment of The Opioid Trilogy follows a 17-year struggle with heroin addiction and path to recovery. I performed in this rotoscope-animated (reenactment) documentary. #ActorsLife #ScreenActor

1923 audition vs. final. Most self tapes stand alone, a single performance for the casting director, each with hope but without expectation that there will be a second audition (callback) or a role in the production. #OTD last year #ActorsLife #ScreenActor #TexasActor #ATXactor #AustinActor #1923tv
