Two aphid species are widely considered the main pests of cereals. However there's a third the rose-grain aphid that flies under the radar. In a new paper we show the rose-grain aphid is consistently present in fields with longer lifespan and greater fecundity than the others doi.org/10.1111/afe....

This year I worked with several project partners to pool resources and share data to develop a stage-structured model that uses insect phenotype data to estimate vector (aphid) and disease (barley yellow dwarf virus) spread in cereal fields. Preprint out just in time for the end of year 🎉🌾🦗
