I have a slight fear that Trump keeling over in office (and the ensuing celebrating from many) would energize the base to rally around Vance a bit, in a way that the assassination attempt bolstered Trump. And that center-rights would see the left's joy as ugly. But I'd hope it would not be enough.

House is one of my all-time favorites. Nothing really like it, which is the blessing and curse of incredible movies. Happiness of the Katakuris is maybe the closest I have seen in tone but it's still a pretty distance second

Mad Mike's is the place I'm most nostalgic about. I vividly remember being terrified of the box art on certain horror movies as a kid, yet that section was my first stop (before the SNES games) every time. I tried finding a picture of the logo to make a sign for my movie corner, but no dice :(

Plus, streaming lessens the incentive to stick with a movie that doesn’t immediately grab your rapidly-dwindling attention. If 2-3 movies don’t, there’s always half-rewatching a favorite show for the tenth time. But if you rented a movie for $3.99, you were definitely finishing that sucker.

Also reminds me of a comment pointing out that ephemeral intensity as a roadblock to actual civil war. Trump tried it with the No Kings rallies and Kirk. I believe they likened it to the Nazis if they spent the decade before Reichstag screaming COMMUNIST at every lit match. Fleeting and numbing.

There's a not-insignificant subset of conservatives who will not like that. Like the Rob Reiner post, it may seem small in the grand scheme of things. But it breaks away support he absolutely cannot afford to lose without a good economy giving them an excuse to ignore it.

I think the difference now is his base is all he has left. Tariffs, Canada, Greenland, Epstein, ICE, even stuff like Rob Reiner have whittled away at non-MAGA support and political capital. Trump without 2016 guardrails was destined to leave him in a bubble with the bottom quartile of the country.

If the mask off policy would actually be enforced, I honestly think that would be the biggest move towards "not getting killed by the government." Not a guarantee of course, but a substantial deterrent. I also feel like it would legitimately cause a wave of resignations from the "botanists"

Just the perfect lil game. Even the film strip intro is 5 stars! If I go by Japanese release dates, Simon's Quest for sure. I can't decide between it and the OG as my favorite Castlevania, but II has a really unique and lonely atmosphere.

First MH I bought at launch after getting addicted to Risebreak/GU. I fell off it pretty fast with the smaller base roster and playing on console (handhelds are way more dad-friendly). Learned my lesson to wait for expansion bundles on Switch or Steamdeck! Only 5,000 GU quests to hold me over.. :|
