A reminder that clamouring for a Japan cricket jersey was a 2020 thing too!

One more plug of this with Japan playing their final #U19WorldCup match. Won't lie, it's been bittersweet being in Bulawayo and not in Windhoek on their ground for the tournament, but so glad the boys have shown their quality to the world. 必勝不敗 www.icc-cricket.com/tournaments/...

A privilege to tell Japan’s story, having been in Sano for their World Cup qualification and taking in everything about the game and its culture in the land of the rising sun. www.icc-cricket.com/tournaments/...

I could be wrong, but this is the only international flight into Saint Helena that’s permanently on the calendar (once a week) and in niche areas I’m in the same terminal to see it. Also a seasonal one that goes from Cape Town via Walvis Bay but may be wrong?

At the risk of “old man yells at cloud” areas here but we need to crack down on people using apostrophes in plurals. It’s actually woeful.

Scotland post the highest total in #CWCL2 history! 380/9 also is Scotland’s highest men’s ODI total, beating the 371 they made *that day* at the Grange against England. Three quality innings in that effort.

Daniel Beswick @danielbeswick.bsky.social · 03/05/2025

First ball of the South Kanto innings at the JPL is BBL and Australian pro James Bazley bowling to former elite professional baseballer-turned international cricket Shogo Kimura. Who would have thought we’d see that matchup!

Peak cricket nuffy behaviour here but I sit here watching a free to air overseas Test series in a place that isn't England and think to myself, "10-year-old me would have been looking at the clock all day to race home and watch this." This is so so good for everyone @7cricket.bsky.social

There is a yellow thing in the sky in Johor! Good chance of two results here. Outfield a little soggy but everything else basically good to go! USA v Ireland just under 90 mins from (scheduled) start.

Representing "The 685" as the smallest team but also the loudest, channelling the power of goddess who cut down a tree to build four weapons to slay some bloke and save her village 🇼🇸 There's a lot to love about the Samoa story 🤩 www.icc-cricket.com/news/swagger...

Swagger of the 685: Samoa’s message to the world at U19WC 2025

The smallest team at the tournament in terms of population and in cricketing stature, Samoa are in no mood to also be the quietest at the ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup in Malaysia.

Toss delayed in Johor just with a soggy outfield in patches. The pitch looks mint though, they’ve done an immense job on that with the rough weather over the last couple of days. #U19WorldCup

Not gonna lie, over the moon with how this turned out. A huge thanks to Tuaoloa Helen Semau, Stella Siale Vaea-Tangitau and the Samoa International Cricket Association on this one!

110

Daniel Beswick @danielbeswick.bsky.social · 13/01/2025

In the best way possible, we shouldn't be immensely surprised about USA's warm-up win v NZ in Malaysia. Team with a lot of senior international experience now holding firm, several individuals standing up in a strong team performance. Big youth push early rewarded.

Captain Lucy Hamilton leads the way for Australia, making 52 (41) v MAS and helped by Kate Pelle (21), Caoimhe Bray (26) and Hasrat Gill (20* from 15). 134/5 (17). Nur Dania Syuhada's 3/25 the standout for the hosts, 11 dots in her day and just five extras given up by the team

Daniel Beswick @danielbeswick.bsky.social · 13/01/2025

Peace Usen for Nigeria meanwhile picked up the big wicket of Pakistan's Komal Khan early, Pakistan 77/4 (15.4 overs). Lucky Piety and Christabel Chukwuonye with wickets to for the Green-Yellows

Daniel Beswick @danielbeswick.bsky.social · 13/01/2025

India 109/3 (13.2 overs) - all three 'wickets' were retired outs to rotate batters. Kamalini G the standout and retired at 32* (23), Gabi Fontenla and Maisie Maceira most economic for Scots

Nigeria win the toss and field v Pakistan at UKM in Bangi, Malaysia win the toss and field v Australia at Royal Selangor Club Note Selangor Turf Club and Royal Selangor Club are different grounds.

Daniel Beswick @danielbeswick.bsky.social · 13/01/2025

Scotland win the toss and bat v India at the Turf Club. Note Turf Club is not a venue for World Cup matches and is historically a slower deck - I'd say don't read into potential low scores here too much
