Distinct Brain Responses to Visual and Functional Object Traits
In the realm of cognitive neuroscience, the intricate processes by which the human brain perceives and interacts with objects are a subject of intense investigation. A groundbreaking study led by

3. The Big Picture: Once these bottom-up representations are built, the brain integrates them (with the medial fusiform gyrus acting as a key integration hub). Then this integrated package is sent to the frontoparietal areas, enabling you to seamlessly grasp and use the object.

2. The Role of Similarity: The similarity between objects might dictate how information is organized within each knowledge type and impact our ability to detect changes.

Across behavioral and fMRI experiments, we found that the brain acts as a highly efficient delegation system: 1. Divide: It might process visual, functional, and manipulation properties independently in distinct cortical regions.

When you reach for an object, your brain has to quickly process its visual appearance, how you physically manipulate it, and its ultimate function. In our newly published study, we wanted to know: Does the brain process all of this information together, or does it split the workload?

New preprint "A cortical semantic space integrating fractions and integers" We used 7T fMRI during number comparison to map the adult cortical representation of small integers 0-5 and basic fractions. Those abstract symbolic concepts are mapped in parietal cortex. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
