iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

Well, they got one out of three right here. I bought a new scale back in April, and I do take my phone into the bathroom, especially at work. There were way more attributes in my "About You" page especially in regards to my home office, my book buying habits, and a whole lotta other stuff.

My annual reminder that I really miss going to the Jimmy V Class at Madison Square Garden in December. /sadpanda

I'm almost embarrassed to say this, but I have 17 separate packages coming in from Amazon today. Yeah, I went a little nuts: mostly books that were more than 50% off, so I didn't have to try to find them at HPB. And that's the beginning. I have a few packages on no-rush delivery next week.

I saw a conference I wanted to attend late in the year (not work-related), but their student rate applies only to full-time students. That makes me wonder...am I paying student rates to other conferences even though I'm only a part-time student? Is full-time a req for all of these? If so, oops!

000

Well, bummer for the Braves. See ya in 2027!

000

Wondering if a stomach bug ripped through the house, or something else. I don't want to give out TMI, but I had a really bad day yesterday (lost 4 pounds). Today, both housemates got hit. But they both also ate meatloaf at Cracker Barrel for lunch today; I'm not sure if that was it or a bug.

000

I was so fixated on the REVENGE Reunion Panel that I completely missed the announcement of a BAND OF BROTHERS panel! Fudge!

000

TIL that Amazon's Buy 3 for the price of 2 promotion may not apply to all the "stuff" listed under it. I had to find a combination of 3 books that qualified for that promotion for it to work. One book always had a separate 3-for-2 promotion.

Phoenix Fan Fusion and ATX Television Festival are on the same weekend next year. So, of course, ATX announces something I would've loved to attend. I'll be in Phoenix.

000

Well the football team was out practicing at 6 AM this morning. What the heck is going on?

I finished my STARGATE SG-1 rewatch last night (10 seasons!) The show is just way too easy to binge, but I loved every minute of it. I went straight into THE ARK OF TRUTH as well. Fans really got lucky with that franchise, didn't we? I'm almost finished with S3 of ATLANTIS, too.

Wake up to find way too many things on my Amazon wishlist at steep discounts, including a book I've been searching for at every Half Price Books I've been to over the last several months. The book was nearly 60% off.

000

I was listening to a podcast this morning (can't remember which; I subscribe to too many) where they talked about how fine arts programs, especially band programs, were feeling the crunch from tariffs. Students can't afford instruments since prices have doubled for most.

100

Talk about a quick transition. On Friday, my boss told us that they had taken a position leading a different team (a promotion). As of today, my team has already been moved over to an interim boss! Where's the transition period? My previous employers would've required at least a couple of weeks.

100

I received late approval to attend a conference here in town all day tomorrow. Then tomorrow night I'll see Branford Marsalis on the UT campus celebrating John Coltrane.

000

Well, that's interesting. I didn't realize the district paid for these trucks. I always thought the cost came out of fundraisers and band parents. In my day...just kidding. Not going to do that. "My day" was 33+ years ago.

Awesome pic. You can just hear the voice along with this! Great job!

010

I did not realize that the Texans are winless. Yikes.

000

Danger Mouse @dangermouse.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

So they're telling us that tonight's attendance at Kyle Field was the 5th largest ever recorded. It certainly didn't LOOK that way. But whatever, easy win. Just wish they were all like that. The schedule is still going to be pretty rough the rest of the way.

000

The book collection I've been buying through Half Price Books the last few months are on sale in the Aggie Bookstore on campus. But it's raining, so I'm not taking books out into that. If my Citadel tickets sell, I won't be back until mid-November. Grr!

000

You know what cracks me up? When you're in a sports bar with different games playing on multiple tvs and somehow several of those games all hit commercial breaks at the same time.

000

Day trip to College Station today for tonight's game, though depending on the rain, I may not stay for the entire game. I know it hasn't rained in these parts since July, but my tires were having a hard time yesterday. I definitely do not like that.

000

Rebel Scum Con IV just went on sale to the public, and the 3-day pass is $100. That's pretty much the price of Phoenix Fan Fusion this year (I expect PFF to rise to $109 or $119 for 3-day passes in 2027). I have such ambitious plans for next summer.

000

When I lived in Upstate NY 10 years ago, I went to a Buffalo game with a small chance of rain. I stopped by a Dick's Sporting Goods to get an "emergency rain poncho" just in case. Never used it, but I keep it in my travel duffel bag. Might need it for tomorrow's TAMU game.

000

I wonder what changed at the high school near my home. During the first six weeks of the school year, the band kids parked as early as 6 AM every day (as I drove by), with a downbeat at 7 AM. But I've noticed that over the last week or two, they haven't. October is contest season, right?

000

Heh, I was thinking I'd need to avoid the South Lamar Drafthouse while ACL is on the next two weekends. Then I looked at my app and realized I bought a ticket for a DIGGER Fan Event there tonight. I mean, I can cancel, but I'll brave the slick streets and possible traffic. 🤷‍♂️

000

Skydance Max Plus streaming app incoming.

000

Boss got the promotion, so their (now previous) position will be open soon. How long it'll take to get someone in is another matter. They're taking over a position of someone who retired back in May. They knew his last date, so taking this long to make a decision is crazy!

000

When the Phillies made the postseason, I was really worried. So I'm definitely glad the Braves beat them. Bring on the Dodgers!

000

Whew. Three more outs after the bottom of this 8th inning. Braves gotta do this!

000

I didn't know that Texas A&M had an MS in Sports Analytics program. They're hosting a conference in November that I may attend, with some very familiar names speaking. But $44k for the degree?! Yikes.

000

Just had another thought. The McKinsey-like group for Texas state agencies is called Sunset Review. They look for inefficiencies, etc.* Our agency was audited last fiscal year and will be publishing their findings this month. It wouldn't surprise me if our team was affected. We are small.

100

Going to be a 3-screen experience tonight: Braves vs Phillies Thursday Night Football UNT vs Tulsa

000

Oh, gosh. Right before they logged off, my boss sent out a meeting for a "Team Update" for tomorrow. I have no idea what that could be about. Maybe they got the job they interviewed for at the end of July (this place takes its time), or someone on the team is leaving. I don't like either outcome.*

100

I plan on being in Dallas at the end of the month, staying downtown. I'm thinking of going to a Mavericks game. Then I saw the prices. What I didn't realize (until now): it's their home opener against the Spurs. Plenty of tickets are available, but they're also very expensive ($100+).

100

Well, the South Austin Rain Dome finally broke. Some really good rain is coming down now. Glad I'm WFH today, but tomorrow might suck if it continues like this.

000

Danger Mouse @dangermouse.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

I was promised rain this morning. So disappointing.

000

Goodness gracious! This at UTA in January, and then Wayne Bergeron playing with TCU in February! Going to be a good start to 2027 in North Texas!

000

Danger Mouse @dangermouse.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

That was a quick game, but I'm glad the Braves came out ahead.

000

Danger Mouse @dangermouse.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

My boss has been letting me go to several conferences in the last 7 months (most of them free). I went to two conferences, taking over 4 days in 2 weeks. Now I have to write a justification letter, even for free conferences (like one next Tues). I don't mind, but it's a bummer. Did someone complain?

110

Danger Mouse @dangermouse.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

I slept soundly this morning, but then I dreamed of a scorpion in my bed. That shocked me awake. I'd rather that not happen again.

001

But then again, trying to find a reasonably priced hotel for the night of the 23rd in Fort Worth before I head over to Dallas is proving to be a nightmare. TCU is playing West Virginia in TCU's homecoming game on the 24th. May just leave Austin at 7 AM that morning instead.*

100

This honestly sounds like an absolute nightmare. I'm glad I'll be out of town for most of this.

000

Well, that would explain a lot. 🤣 Yesterday, I had an Amazon delivery where the tracker said the package was 5 stops away, a few houses down the street. It stayed that way for nearly an hour before it was finally delivered. I could've walked down and back to get it myself about 8-10 times.

000

Wow. I had actually written Denver off early in this game. Oops.
