There is a new Taiwanese release of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. If you get the deluxe version, it comes in a box set along with 5 postcards. Im looking into the proxy Superbuy to get one for myself. The cost (before shipping) is about $100. If you are interested, search 横滨购物纪行典藏版 at TaoBao/SuperBuy.

In case you didn't see this on twitter: Great news YKK fans! A very dedicated and wonderful person has translated Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou Novel: Seeing, Walking, Being Glad (小説ヨコハマ買い出し紀行―見て、歩き、よろこぶ者), written by Teriha Katsuki (香月照葉). You can find it here www.reddit.com/r/YKK/commen...

Scanned in my Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou mouse pad. It was the free gift that came with the 2002 calendar. Its so tiny! Could anyone actually use this?

I loved this movie as a kid, way more than ET. ET scared the SHIT out of me to the point I had night terrors. Not Mac though. He was more silly and less traumatizing (though his family are horrors straight from hell). Can't wait to rewatch it on VHS, the way it was meant to be seen

As an older millenial, there's something about watching movies on VHS that's just so comforting.

Thank you! Thats why I love cels, you get to own a physical piece of anime history. Here are a few more that I cherish almost as much

Yeah, they're cels from the first OVA. Here's some pictures before they got framed

Finally got the cels hung up. Don't know why I didn't do it earlier. I guess out of sight out of mind. The shelves are still a work in progress.

39/140 volumes of 月刊アフタヌーン Monthly Afternoon's Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou so far. Already got TWO duplicates so I had to create a spreadsheet to help me see what I already have. I love these books though, they have a smell sort of like... a library filled with phone books. Its kind of comforting.

Started the daunting task of collecting all volumes of Monthly Afternoon during YKKs run. Flipping through the first few I got today and I already found some interesting things, like an ad for the Alpha and Kokone figs, and YKK's serialization announcement.

One of my favorite sketches from Ashinano. This was from a doujinshi that he contributed to.

Chapter 56 Frost is the closest thing to snow I had growing up. I remember being a kid and seeing the back yard lawn almost pure white. I would walk around hearing the grass crunch. I loved it. And this chapter reminds me a lot of those winters. Also I love the panel of them looking up at the stars

WIP of track 1 (CD3). Decided to make a title screen. This took waaay too long, but I like the final results

Been scanning in some Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou animation materials, and decided to "re-animate" a small portion. From ep 2 of YKK:QCC

I have begun working on the third (and final) Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou drama CD. The first track has a very special guest voice: Ashinano-sensei himself!

Finally, some reasonably priced YKK merch!!! I know this is just a pricing mistake, but its been up for months!

Cel of Mrs. Brisby from The Secret of NIMH. This is the only non-anime cel I have, but I love it so much. That expression is so very relatable. This is from the scene where she goes into the rats lair looking for Nicodemus.

DangeresqueIII @dangeresqueiii.bsky.social · 12/11/2024

Cel of Haruko Mitsuhashi from Roujin Z (1991) I tried a couple times to upload a gif of the scene the cel is from but Bluesky doesn't seem to like gifs -_-

It's from episode 17, where Asuka is trying to flirt with Kaji

DangeresqueIII @dangeresqueiii.bsky.social · 12/11/2024

It was fine. Some parts I loved, others not so much. I will say, the scene with the "ship" landing and the reveal that its a clothes iron is one of the funniest moments in all Star Wars for me. I was the only one laughing in the theater 😅

DangeresqueIII @dangeresqueiii.bsky.social · 12/11/2024

Thanks! Yeah I was really excited to learn that I had the original background as well, which is usually much harder to find. I actually have two other cels (one from End of Eva, other the series), but I had them framed years ago, long before I got a scanner.

DangeresqueIII @dangeresqueiii.bsky.social · 12/11/2024

Asuka cel from Neon Genesis Evangelion, with original background. Purchased in 2018 for way too much (and hopefully its authentic 😬) Not sure exactly which episode, though someone was able to find a screen cap from the same scene

Couple of somewhat rare Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou items are up for auction. There's a 1999 calendar, complete with box and fish extra. And there's an issue of June 1994 Monthly Afternoon, which has the first appearance of YKK. I'll post links below

New behemoth scanner! Has a max scanning area of 11x17 inches. I got it for the sole purpose of scanning in my Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou ova materials. I have 12 sets of genga/douga, and Im pretty sure they're all from the 2nd episode of YKK:QCC. Ill be posting me when I get them scanned in.

Heres a few pictures of animation sketches and production materials from the Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou: Quiet Country Cafe ova. This is from the scene of Alpha visiting the tiny air port that's run by Nai and his mom.

My Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou collection all started because I wanted a cel from the ova. They are hard to come by so I just started collecting other ykk merch because why not? But I did finally get 2 cels. Would love to have one of Kokone. Maybe some day.
