Nature goes hard sometimes. I just spotted a goldenrod crab spider, which can change its color to camouflage itself while waiting for prey. Poor bee.

Goldenrod crab spider turned yellow on a yellow flower, holding a bee as its prey.

I was pleasantly surprised when my plant app told me there was hollyhock growing up against my iris patch. I think I tried planting one once and later considered it a failed experiment. I'm guessing this is a reseed - but I wasn't expecting it to be this cool […] [Original post on mastodon.social]

A very ruffled hollyhock flower ranging from red to pink to white.

Outside the AI bubble, a backlash has been brewing for some time — and not only among students booing pro-AI commencement speakers. Just 10 percent of Americans say they're thrilled about the future of AI, a Pew poll found in March; that same month, some 80 percent of registered U.S. voters in […]

Some of my more "wild" flowers are starting to bloom. Palmer's penstemon (light pink) is a native plant I added this year. Maltese Cross (red) was a volunteer found growing in an unused pot. And another volunteer, dianthus I think (dark pink), was found near […] [Original post on mastodon.social]

My summer garden favorite, anise hyssop. It's not true anise but it smells just like licorice! I tried a Chelsea chop in the front to get a more layered appearance, those lower flowers are finally coming in. #bloomscrolling #flowers #gardening

Anise hyssop, stretching up more than six feet.

Upon embarking upon a new adventure in Oblivion Remastered, my wife asked me if I planned on sticking with my rather tired tactics as a stealth archer, or if I was going to try something new. So I tried to name my new character in a way that hints at her overall strategy. #oblivion

There I am inside Final Fantasy, just minding my own business, when suddenly this guy appears and wants to fight.
