#quiltsky just a heads up. Baby Lock has announced the discontinuation of the Sashiko machine. Anyone who wants one should contact a dealer immediately and place an order. I’m not sure they’re even taking orders from them. I have a friend who placed an order a couple of months ago.

#crossstitch #co2laser this is a rough draft of what the final piece will look like. The cardboard will be maple or birch with a natural matte stain. The olive branches will be the green you see here but will go all the way around. I’m almost done with the 5th pattern. I love winter so much. ❄️⛄️

#crossstitch I want people to know if I am ever granted any power in this world, one of my first acts will be to outlaw six threaded skeins of embroidery floss. Manufacturers will be required to spool it in a single strand like thread so users don’t waste precious eons or deal with 12” strands!

#sourdough I started my dough too late yesterday; I knew it was too late but decided to push it. At 1 AM it had only grown by 40% but I was tired so I shaped them/put them in the fridge. I had to bake them 3 hours apart. You can see where one splooted/is over proofed. Hubby says he’s glad to eat it.

#quiltsky #organization Clear acrylic is hard to see, especially with the shadow from the cabinets but I’m super happy to have this. I can stack multiple rulers on each hook and he’s ready to make a vertical version should I need it.

#quiltsky I am probably among the last people to realize this, but I thought I would post it in case I’m not. I had never laundered any of my muslin practice pieces before last night. I was surprised by how much softer/drapey it became. I think it’s perfect to use on a porch or for a picnic blanket.

While helping a newer than me quilter find a motif I landed back on their website and couldn’t help shopping for myself. #quiltsky #longarm A quick tip for Bottom Line thread in your bobbin winder. Put a small piece of batting in the first thread guide, start slow. It creates just enough tension to keep the thread in the tension disc. Mine was jumping out like crazy.

#quiltsky #pantograph It has been an adventure today,it’s the first time I gave paper pantographs a sincere effort. I’ve never been terribly good at coloring within the lines, both literally and figuratively. I learned how much resting my left hand on my ruler base helps me control the machine head.

#quiltsky A little change of pace for me today. Two 8” hot pads, (Plum Easy Patterns)made mostly with scrap from other projects. While not identical I thought there was enough commonality to pass them off as a set. Would anyone here be miffed to receive these as a set? My first try at folded stars.

#sourdough this is probably going to be a two part or three part saga. Many of you, like me, are caught under the heat dome. In my rush to prepare another loaf so the oven wouldn’t have to be on during the hottest days of the week I left the dough in the Ank too long so the gluten fibers broke down.

#sourdough I tried a different technique today; I did the decorative score but not the expansion score, baked for 7 minutes, then did the expansion score and baked 20 more minutes covered and 12 minutes uncovered. I feel that the rise was better. Can’t wait to cut it tonight!
