Now, I have additional facts to attach to that concept, and that’s pretty f&$king cool. (3/3)

When Ruby Bridges was six years old, she had to be accompanied by US Marshalls as she became the first black student at an elementary school in New Orleans. That image later became the subject of Norman Rockwell’s “The Problem We All Live With” painting. (1/3)

I am definitely a work-in-progress. I like to think most people are. That being said, this, right here, is what I’m always aiming for. H/t Austen

A tan background with a large white-ish circle in the center, possibly the sun. Filling most of the frame is a cartoon raccoon, in full medieval armor (minus the helmet) most of it a silvery blue color, with a bandana around his neck. The raccoon holds a long staff in its right hand, the bottom planted in the ground, a large ball covered in spikes on the top. The raccoon has a determined look on its face. Large black text at the top of the frame says “THE WORLD IS CRUEL” and at the bottom “SO I CHOOSE NOT TO BE”

In the immortal words of Peter, Paul, and Mary: “We have come this far always believing That justice would somehow prevail This is the burden, this is the promise This is why we will not fail!” H/t Christine

White text on a black background.
A tweet from TeaWithTolkien that says: “thinking about how many characters in the Lord of the Rings books ultimately succeed by simply plodding along despite a loss of hope. weighed down by despair and yet not fully drowned. trudging towards the light with their last ounce of strength and will. and at the end, it is enough.

As part of an effort to de-accession and refresh, we’re selling things on Mercari. We now need something bigger than mailers, and would prefer not to buy. If you have any spare small-ish cardboard boxes (think: Amazon), please DM (Pic of Gemma concentrating intensely in skating class for algorithm)

An almost-nine-year-old blond-haired girl, wearing a white longsleeve shirt, tan cargo pants, white ice skates, and hot pink gloves, stands on the ice with her legs spread and her upper body twisted to her left. She has a look of intense concentration on her face as she follows the instructions of her figure skating coach, whose leg and skate can be seen on the left edge of the frame.
