I met Sandy Redd when she was performing at Celebrity Open Mic. I stood in the front and cheered for every single performer. She came up to me and said . And I quote "You cheer for everyone" This I do . My mother taught me that if people don't support local talent then they leave. Describe a phase in life that was difficult to say goodbye to. I started Belly Dancing at 6 years old because My Mother Nazaree Azure was a belly dance teacher and a costume designer. She made these incredible crocheted sequined scarves called Dazzlers. My very first belly dance performance was at a Middle Eastern Restaurant called Hamorabbis. I performed in 5 different states, at the Unity Day Celebration in front of former Mayor Richard J Daley.

Describe the most ambitious DIY project you've ever taken on. The time I work with an amazing Suicide Prevention/ Anti-Bullying Charity Fashion show the show coordinator got into a jam because 2 of her designers dropped out. It was an amazing show even though the organization had to close due to Covid I still work with the show coordinator to this day.

What is the biggest challenge you will face in the next six months? I shouldn't even say in my life I should. I should say finally living my life. I have been living for everyone else for my entire life. I have not been able to focus on me and what I need. This stops today. I am going to use the voice that I scream with for things for everyone else to speak up about what I need so that I can thrive.

What advice would you give to your teenage self? You will create amazing jewelry that will be featured on global stages ,on magazine covers and on national television. The voice that you hated as a child will build your radio career. You will make moves that you set yourself up for life. You will do things that will help you to change the way that people see Chicago talent with your very own branded radio show Danaya Azure Radio and through HFL Magazine.

Tell us about your favorite pair of shoes, and where they’ve taken you. I had actually had these shoes in 2 different colors They were in black and in beige. I loved them because I have long legs and they made my legs look amazing. Yes I am 6'2 but those heels just gave me a different type of energy.
