So I came to #Apple in the OS9 days, had a G3 PowerMac. One thing I think is funny is over the years, the fanboy gatekeeping has been to hate anything new and remain on old outdated software as some badge of honor. I don't get it.

After more than 20 years of using Dreamhost, I have officially made the request to transfer away my last 2 domains, moved my site and wife's off the platform. My email is already at Proton, moved hers to PurelyMail, and after the transfer, because of rising costs, I will close that account.

This is nothing special, however, I had a real annoying use case for needing to sync my Safari bookmarks to 2 different Macs with 2 different iCloud accounts (home/work) and didn't really want to use a 3rd party. I worked on this simple script if it helps anyone else: github.com/danarel/safa...

The rights biggest argument in favor of Nazis and hate speech is free speech. They are now shutting down blogs that literally post nothing but reports on far right hate and researching hate groups. That’s being labeled as terrorism.

I have hosted with @dreamhost.bsky.social for 17 years and today I start the move to remove my sites and house them elsewhere. Prices continue to rise, and I cannot justify the high costs anymore. To be fair, I went from using them as an agency to just personal use, but too expensive for my needs.
