I need to advance some assignments for school but I have a three-day long weekend to (hopefully) finish my BarChas 🐍🐹 story for Halloween 🥳💃🎃

I hope I did this correctly 😅 Here is my menu for #まどめTTN　＃TTN2026 I will be featuring my own illustration and story plus joint works with @danalionheart.bsky.social and her Halloween stories as well, one from last year, one from this year.

I will finish this story in time for Halloween, but until I'm not done with this one I can't go back to my main story "Crybaby Knight" 🐍🐹 Both stories need my full attention, so even when I miss CK, I need to focus in one story at a time. I hope to make good progress this weekend 🙏

And because this story is "one of the many adventures of the Scarlet Witch 🐹🧙‍♀️ and the Black Knight 🐍⚔️" I need to woven some lore (like how they met and the cause Bar's 🐍 fever when he was a kid, mentioned in my Fall's short stories) in case I want to write more stories about them in the future.

Since these stories were passed down orally, there are a lot of different versions and that made me go slower. And when i thought that I had finally solved some of the issues within the story, I caught a bad cold 🤧 and I'm still recovering from it. And even now I'm changing parts of the plot...

Dana (Mercurie Lampe) 🐍🐹 @danalionheart.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

I'm still working on my story BarChas 🐍🐹 for Halloween 🎃. Since it's set in Samhain an uses Celtic Folklore, I had to spend a lot of time doing research, discarding what didn't work for my story, change some plots, go back for research, and repeat the process several times.

It's been 2 months since chapter 81 of the manga was released, but I keep thinking that the panel with the moray eel and the tiny fish represents BarChas 🐍🐹. 🐍 He's the eel hidden deep in the dark ocean, while 🐹 she's the fish closer to the glowing surface. It's a sad but beautiful symbolism.

If it was me, I'd turn it into a written story (with illustrations) and post it on Ao3. Pixiv is more focused on Japanese public and it may be difficult for them to read a comic in English and in Western style. But no pressure! Like me you have a lot of BarChas 🐍🐹 projects, but not enough time 😭

I just finished proofreading the six short stories with BarChas 🐍🐹 I'll publish for autumn tomorrow, and the length doubles the ones I posted for summer! 😣 This was supposed to be a project with short stories, so I wonder how they got so long this time? Anyway, tomorrow autumn finally starts 🍂

010

Dana (Mercurie Lampe) 🐍🐹 @danalionheart.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

I fantasize with Bar 🐍 comforting Chas 🐹 once the Saleos' arc is over. He hugs her or offers to hide her with his back so she can cry, and Chas 🐹 remembers her brother (Bar 🐍 and Ves have the same height), and she feels safe and warm. But that's my wishful thinking ❗This is just my interpretation 🙇‍♀️

020

Dana (Mercurie Lampe) 🐍🐹 @danalionheart.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

I also think there are things we have yet to see in AkuPon. With the sandwich incident, Chas 🐹 looks at Bar 🐍 with fondness, but I don't think that's love yet. She can see how kind Bar 🐍 actually is (so does Nephy 🐦, because Nephy 🐦 and Bar 🐍 aren't that different) and that warms her heart

A screenshot of a panel from "An Archdemon's (friend) Dilemma: How to Babysit a Crybaby knight" where Chastille is smiling with fondness.

130

Dana (Mercurie Lampe) 🐍🐹 @danalionheart.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

Ryan said he had a hunch when he saw Chas 🐹 face. That's also why I think Chas was already harboring some feelings for Bar 🐍 back then, and that her feelings for Zagan 🐶 had long disappeared. You can think you love someone, but the nature of those feelings is different from love (it can be sympathy)

A screenshot of a panel from "An Archdemon's Dilemma: How to Love your Elf Bride" manga (voluem 12). Chastille is holding Barbatos with a desperate look on her face as he's deadly injured.

110

Dana (Mercurie Lampe) 🐍🐹 @danalionheart.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

But thanks to that, Bar 🐍 and Chas 🐹 stand as equals despite being a sorcerer and a knight. In the SS for volume 19, Ryan says the chimera attack was the "foundation" of her falling in love, but I think Chas 🐹 already had some feelings for Bar 🐍 that became more obvious when he almost lost his life

110

Dana (Mercurie Lampe) 🐍🐹 @danalionheart.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

Chas 🐹 got a really bad first impression of Bar 🐍 but then she got to know him and realized he's not as despicable as she thought. She got to interact with him daily, and he treats her as an ordinary girl, not as the revered "Maiden of the Sacred Sword." He calls her ponkotsu, makes fun of her, etc.

110

Dana (Mercurie Lampe) 🐍🐹 @danalionheart.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

I believe part of the reason Chas 🐹 "fell in love" with Zagan 🐶 was emotional shock (she's used to save others, yet she was saved this time) + wanting to save him from his loneliness. Considering Chas 🐹 good nature, I think it makes sense, but that's also why her love for Bar 🐍 is different

I listened to the song and it's beautiful 😭 French and Italian are truly beautiful languages. And I didn't remember much of the movie either until I stumbled upon that song again 😅 Disney movies are supposed to be for children, but "Hellfire" has scary lyrics 😥 Frollo was truly a Disney villain.

Please don't apologize! 🙏 I agree that religious music is beautiful. Most of them have chants in Latin and the pipe organ makes it sound even better 😭 it's curious how these songs can inspire us. And I'm really curious too about this illustration inspired by Buddha's mother song 🤯

Thank you for the recommendations 🙏 this was a very challenging chapter to write 😭 This is my main inspiration, "Hellfire" from "The Hunchback of Notre Dame": www.youtube.com/watch?v=di1X... It seems that in Japanese this song has two different names「地獄の炎」(Jigoku no Honō) and「罪の炎」 (Tsumi no Honō)

Writer block can be quite annoying, but I always take it as a sign that I'm not going towards the direction the characters want. I feel writers aren't the ones creating the story, but we are just a medium for the characters to tell their own story.
