I've played Big Walk by @househouse.com with a couple friend groups, now. What a special game. If you've played, what did your group call the item you need to collect? We called them doingles.

Playing Final Fantasy I for the first time via the Pixel Remaster. The Buccaneer sure has some thighs (alas, they do not save lives). And I am amused the Troll looks like it has a big headache. 😂

A troll from Final Fantasy I. Green body, pink hair. It looks like they have a really bad headache.

When you forget to change your glam so you can see your facial expressions in a cutscene. >.>

Screenshot from the video game Final Fantasy XIV wherein my character is wearing a Halloween glamour where I put on a big white sheet with a static, painted facial expression. There is a small glowing jack o'lantern on top of my head, too.

I had the pleasure of listening to Samin Nosrat and Hrishikesh Hirway speak over the weekend. What a delightful evening!

I commissioned @toondoodles.bsky.social to draw a chibi version of my FFXIV WoL, Dana Abernathy. I love it! And, of course, I had to get the Lesser Panda in there, my constant minion companion. :3

Bought some strawberries at the farmers’ market this morning, some of which I turned into David Lebovitz’s strawberry sour cream ice cream, which is so yummy and full of strawberry flavor. Also made a fresh loaf of King Arthur Baking’s sandwich bread for the week.

Left: green oblong container with homemade strawberry ice cream in it. Right: loaf of homemade sandwich bread. Middle: bread knife. Other appearances: a small tub of Kerrygold butter and the side of a Whynter ice cream maker.

Finished a sweater! This is Saga’s Sweater from Alan Wake II. Remedy, the developer, published a knitting guide for it in 2023, so I decided to make it. It’s been rainy here so it took 2 days to dry. 😂

Front of Saga’s Sweater, primarily in a rusty orange yarn with some white trees, pink and black trim.

Back of Saga’s Sweater, primarily in a rusty orange yarn with some white trees, pink and black trim. There is a deer motif in the trees.

Games I finished in 2024, a running list: 17. Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery More "Hidden Through Time!" No change to gameplay, but still fun if you enjoy hidden object stuff.

Did some gaming this year. o.ov Kind of wish the idle games could be excluded from the recap (2 of the games in my list are idle games).

2024 Steam Recap for danakate. Shows 63 games played, 736 achievements earned, 789 sessions played, and 39 new games played. The most played games are Spirit City: Lofi Sessions, Stardew Valley, Astroneer, Cookie Clicker, and Helldivers II.

Games I finished in 2024, a running list: 16. A Shelter Full of Cats The "...Full of Cats" series is always fun and this one is no exception. Many of the games are free, but not this one, which is great because it has so many cats to find! This one also has a bit of a story...

Game art for A Shelter Full of Cats. Features a black cat and a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, woman in overalls.

Games I finished in 2024, a running list: 15. A Little to the Left I'd actually played the demo a couple years ago and was extremely frustrated by it. I tried it again, though, and completed it today. I had a much better time with it and felt quite satisfied at the end.

A Little to the Left game key art. Features a broken plate where the center is in the shape of a cat with dark paw prints walking across it.

Games I finished in 2024, a running list: 14. Astroneer - Glitchwalkers DLC I can't really say too much about Glitchwalkers without spoiling it, but what a delight! Reminds me of early-Astroneer when I had no idea what to do. I really enjoyed it, even if the core will always be my nemesis.

Astroneer - Glitchwalkers DLC key art. Features an unknown planet, an astroneer, and a storm blob in the middle.

Games I finished in 2024, a running list: 13. The Planet Crafter This was a fun crafting/survival game. I'd played it a lot when it was in Early Access, but started over when it finally released into 1.0. I went for "Relaxed" mode, where I don't lose my stuff when I die. Body runs aren't fun.

"Cover art" for the game the Planet Crafter. It is mostly orange and features the game name at the top and an image of a person in a space suit and foliage reflected in the helmet mask.

Behold, my very messy warehouse near the end of the game. :D

An image from my game of Wilmot's Warehouse. There are many different types of blocks organized by type in some schema that made sense to me at some point.

Games I finished in 2024, a running list: 12. Wilmot's Warehouse I was gifted this game close to when it released in 2019 but never got around to finishing it until now. Do you like organizing things and regretting how you organized things as you get more things? Then this is the game for you!

Cover art for Wilmot's Warehouse. Features the game name, several colorful blocks of varying images, and a white block with a smiling face on top that represents Wilmot.

Games I finished in 2024, a running list: 11. Minami Lane A short, cute game about making a little neighborhood cute and pretty. It's a management game in that you need to figure out what your residents like. Pretty fun and apparently made in 6 months by a duo. Neat!

Games I finished in 2024, a running list: 10. Astro Bot What an utterly delightful game! 😍 Astro Bot is a celebration of gaming and I had a lot of fun playing through it. I'll try to Platinum it, but some of the levels are Very Challenging and my hands and the DualSense®️ controller don't get along.

Games I finished in 2024, a running list: 9. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II RJ and I finished the co-op story campaign tonight. What a throwback. Felt like I was back in my Xbox 360 Gears of War days. The gameplay was pretty fun and it was quite a pretty game.

Games I finished in 2024, a running list: 8. Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail I actually finished this before #7, but I didn't think about is as "done" since it's an ongoing MMO. But I finished the Main Scenario Quest and rolled credits, so I'm counting it. I still have the optional content, though.

Games I finished in 2024, a running list: 7. Thank Goodness You're Here! What a weird little game about being a little dude helping people out. It is extremely British so, since I am not, a lot of the references/humor I did not get. But it was still fun to play and takes about 2 hours to play.

A screenshot of the Thank Goodness You're Here! game page. It has a red background and a small text box that says "Out Now!" along with the name of the game.

I got super ambitious and made jjajangmyeon (noodles with Korean black soy bean sauce) and tangsuyuk (Korean sweet and sour pork) from scratch and it was so good 😊

Games I Finished in 2024, a running list: 6. BioShock An older title that I tried to play soon after it came out. I recall I was a) really bad at it and b) got lost really quickly. Revisiting it, I finally got through it and it's still a pretty neat title. Rapture is a fascinating place.

Games I Finished in 2024, a running list: 5. Little Kitty, Big City Very cute cat simulator where you're doing traversal, puzzle solving, and various other things. I had a lot of fun with this one. A few spots had some camera/controls issues, but otherwise a lot of fun! >.>

Games I Finished in 2024, a running list: 4. A Tower Full of Cats Another hidden object game, but you're finding cats! The whole line of [Blank] Full of Cats games are great. They're cute and funny. Some interact-able bits, but not a ton. An enjoyable few hours with some challenge.
