This sounds so useful! I'll have to keep an eye out for a recording. This hit really hard for me: "the gap between who you think you should be and who you actually are". I think that's where a lot of my personal burnout stems from tbh.

This is a topic that's very close to my heart - I've had two burnouts in my career and they suck. I'm planning to write a few posts on this topic - the first is an article on the signs that you might be burning out. If you are struggling, my heart goes out to you 💜 danaciocan.com/blog/five-si...

Honestly, messing around with my blog now that it's self-hosted is _so_ much fun. Should have done it ages ago! Just spent a while making syntax highlighting work for code blocks. Best stop now or I'll be at this all evening 😆

I did some research on data mocking for an RFC this week and ended up doing a pretty deep dive on Mock Service Worker. If your mocks are in a mess then give this week's blog post a read! Hope you're all staying hydrated and not melting too much 🫠 danaciocan.com/blog/herd-yo...

Hashnode have put a paywall in front of some of their essential features, so I've moved my blog to a self-hosted solution. Heres a post explaining why and how: danaciocan.com/blog/im-leav...

I ended up "pre-inlining" it i.e. instead of storing it in a file, just bung the string straight in the CSS. Not ideal, but given it had already taken way too long and we'll be replacing this soon anyway, I decided "screw it". Sometimes you have to know when to give up

Spent far too much time this week trying to figure out why an SVG wasn't working - turns out it was being "inlined" and in the process, URL encoded, which broke it. Wild! I couldn't figure out what to do to get our bundler not to do that - none of the tricks I tried worked. Very annoying!

Some interesting ideas here: aurorascharff.no/posts/compon... I am much more experienced with pages router but about to adopt app router, so very interested in all of this stuff. It feels like a big paradigm shift and I'm worried I'm not going to get it "right", but done is better than perfect

Gosh I do sometimes miss the days when the frontend was simpler. Whenever I think of implementing a little app for fun I think of having to implement an API to serve the data and I just give up 😆 I guess AI can do it for me and maybe I should just do that, but even so!

I keep forgetting this, so I'm posting it here in the hopes I don't forget next time: in Next.js app router, client components get an initial render on the server and are then hydrated in a second pass. This is very similar to how pages router used to work, just on a component rather than page level
