Read the first six issues finally, and this is such a great use of the comic medium, even understanding a single issue should stand on its own. Easily The gold standard of the Absolute universe and every Superhero reinvention, and puts books like Absolute Superman to shame!

"Lex what are you..." "Tell no one." Yeah, Last Days of Lex Luthor is good, you can say.

Read the zoo arc of Absolute Batman fully and this book is so awesome but its awesomeness is helped a lot by having a compelling lead protagonist that I can root for beyond just knowing it's Batman. Can't wait to read Abomination next!

Finally, read the third volume of DWJ Transformers, and yeah, it's still great even if this arc was really all set up for the final arc of DWJ run.

But despite its flaws, it is still a good superman and good movie overall and I won't mind seeing this version of the character again.

But my opinion on ultraman is mixed. Im glad he wasn't bizarro but man it would been such a good reveal when he is unmasked he has the white and and crackling skin that would have been an awesome reveal. But im glad the goat didn't get a shit adaptation so there that.

I also like the movie to embrace the silly concepts without going, "Hey, this is stupid" Really do like it.

Hoult lex is the best the character has been in adaptations on smallville, though I still feel like he is missing one thing to make him an all-timer. It's a personal connection to Superman.

Performances are good with David and Hoult being a real highlight. Lois was good but her relationship with Clark felt really underdevelopment and felt like we missed a whole movie of development.

For everything this movie dose perfect there that glaring flaw of the "truth" of Kal-el heritage that holds it back from being perfect. God that decision might be worse than superman killing zod and I mean it. At least everything good.

Superman '78 or what like to call it Superman III is the perfect Superman story that fully deserves that iconic shot of Christopher Reeve smiling to the camera.

This is also how you change the Mythos while still respecting the entire character.

But everything else is handled so well. Gene hackman lex is at his best in this, and lois is an active character in this just so good.

He is also shows what this version of kal could became and this moment isn't just a hype moment but a cementing of clark growth from superman 1 and 2.

That character is Brainiac, easily the best superman movie villain and one of the best cbm villains ever. He sympathetic but the story makes its clear why he is wrong and despite his noble intentions and a little shit who lies.

There so much I love about this book like it continues reeves superman story that actually follows though on the stuff established in superman 2 and gives him a nice arc of learning to let people in and a good arc is usually shown with a foil of someone who doesn't learn it.

Superman '78 isn't just my favorite superman comic ever. Superman '78 is one of my favorite things ever and despite it being a comic it is still the best superman movie and actually deserving of the title of Superman III.

smallville s11 in my opinion is one of the most underrated runs of the characters its also really beginner friendly run as all you have to do is watch the show with bonuses of being a good introduction to the wider dc universe and if you like the show and like superman you should also read this!

And so glad this comic dose villians and concepts the show didnt do. it's quite awesome seeing cyborg superman,prankster,earth-man and Lex getting his battlesuit just awsome stuff.

Dalton @daltonstuff.bsky.social · 10/07/2025
But the best thing this series dose is make Otis (the usually one noted comic relief from Donner superman 1) into a actually character who wants to bring the best out of lex and remains loyal to him till the end and he is still funny as hell.

Dalton @daltonstuff.bsky.social · 10/07/2025
This also continues the good sex bad Lex story so well to by using the memory wipe of the shows finale we are able to bring lex back to "can he be saved" staus quo naturally without ruining all his character development.

Dalton @daltonstuff.bsky.social · 10/07/2025
But in terms of continuing the story of smallville it dose so fantastically with the first half of the series building towards clark revealing he's a alien to the world which is so good and continues the streak of smallville handling clark heritage the best.

Nothing feels out of place. Which is especially show off well with the inclusion of batman the smallville version of him remains true to the character while not making him "better" than superman and still understanding why these two have a friendship. There little scuffle is also so fun.

For the new movie coming out this friday why not talk about the best superman adaptions starting with TV and good there a comic sequel to that and oh my lord is it everything I wanted from a sequel to Smallville. It introduces stuff the show couldnt do but the miracle is....

They introduced a lois dog for Krypto thats all good but the interesting part is that the dog rejects him out of fear which makes a very interesting commentary on kal's own fear even if he laughs it off here.

Capping this Maggin trilogy is the return of Krypto from what was called the limbo kennel. Despite the simple nature of this issue this is easily one of the best Krypto stories ever that dose somthing quite interesting with the superdog.

This moment is also so funny. Superman crashes to the ground like a looney toons bit, and Lex comes to help, but Superman in the Looney bin, so lex gets so frustrated. It's so funny man.

Dalton @daltonstuff.bsky.social · 08/07/2025
And I can't forget to mention this story is where this iconic moment. Yeah, it's funny to make the whole lex and Superman are gay jokes, but I like that lex like Superman has his own honor in his twisted way just adds so much parallel to these two.

Dalton @daltonstuff.bsky.social · 08/07/2025
The thing this story does so well with Lex is showing his good side. Which gose with the whole clark beliving lex can be saved and really does show the potential Lex has if he let's go of his hate.

Really like this scene of lex and clark as kids just shows they had a genuine friendship, that adds to the whole tragedy of their relationship.
010
Dalton @daltonstuff.bsky.social · 07/07/2025
Clark wishing that someday Lex will redeem himself is also good and making sure people know good in him at there was is such good character work and its clear Lex unwillingness to let go of his hate really dose bother him.
110
Dalton @daltonstuff.bsky.social · 07/07/2025
Also, like how we get a bit of lex pov briefly of his on why he hates Superman, he blames him for his life falling apart and everyone hating him, which I think adds a lot to their dynamic.
