I think there’s a case to play him over Douglas now

Dalton Ringey (Dalton H. Regnier) @daltonringey.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

I had to step away after the touchdown, but why has it been so run heavy? I’m only following the play-by-play, but it seems awfully conservative for not having a big lead

Man I would love to be making $40k/year teaching music theory (obviously I’d love to be making more than that too)

You have to question the coaching to keep putting him in the game after repeated mistakes. You can’t baby him

Do you see any issues with the playcalling or is it mostly on Maye? We still can’t run the ball

I’ve been patient than many other fans but the error repeating may constitute a benching

Personally, I wouldn’t be spending thousands of dollars on what equates to private lessons for a few months. If someone has to use “LinkedIn coach speak” in their marketing tools - look away.

There’s a composer who’s been offering courses as an alternative to academia, which as a concept is fine, but when all of your success stories are older adults with full-time jobs outside of music, you wonder how much success comes from the privilege of having that income already.

A8. I had Michael Daugherty describe my harmonic progressions in a piece of mine as algorithmic when I just use my intuition 95% of the time.

A7. Seeing incredible live performances of my works at various festivals and conferences. One that comes to mind is when Transient Canvas performed a piece I had written for them during COVID at ICA’s Low Clarinet Festival as the winning piece of their composition competition

A6. My undergrad degree is in music ed, so maybe I’d be a band director. If I wasn’t doing music at all I’d probably be an engineer or architect.

A4. My composition prof Jennifer Barker at UD took a chance on me when I hadn’t formally studied composition before and got me into multiple doctoral programs.

A3. I started to move towards composition at the end of my masters. Did both performance and comp, and after some failed orchestra auditions (the original plan), I decided to pivot and I think I made the right move.

A2. I’ve been composing seriously for about a decade now, and the last two years I was also adjuncting. Would like to have FT academic job in the near future but I’m not holding my breath.

Went to the Ballard Farmers Market today and had a wannabe influencer in front of me - was incredibly cringey and annoying to be around. I was close to saying or doing something to ruin the shot but decided against it.

I am begging people in the academic job market to stop whining about “inside hires” An institution hiring a VAP or temporary instructor for a permanent role happens all the time and it makes perfect sense that someone who is already teaching in the department would be a better fit than others.

It’s bad combo of working in the arts and in Florida. I also teach private lessons which I get paid $600-680 per student (depending on the school) for the whole semester. If i taught lessons privately with market rates, I’d be getting paid more

So it turns out in order to receive mentorship from this composer it’s $10k (thank you to a colleague for finding this out). So he really only had 9-10 students, and his biggest success story is someone who has a full time job outside of music (and the financial security that comes with it)

Lindsey Vonn’s decision to compete a week after a torn ACL is not only incredibly stupid, but selfish as well. I’m sure if she dropped out someone else who had an intact ACL could’ve taken her place.
