I'm not going to lie, I've been so tempted. I've been running Foundry for a couple years now and its great in its versatility and all, but Codex seems awesome. There's honestly just one mod that keeps me on Foundry: Ripper's Quest mod that lets have a er, codex of NPCs, places, and lore stuff.

I've had dice derail encounters in #DrawSteel, Fall of BlackBottom includes a path with a borderline impossible fight for a 1st level party. One of those 'come back next level maybe' sort of things. A combination of T3 on the player side and T1 on the monster side made it difficult but doable

Microsoft has thankfully extended its support Win10 twice now, but its been on my mind that this will need to be a Linux machine eventually. Not familiar with Steam OS, but that should be worth looking into as well

Easy to agree on you with that one, I'm using a 7 year old PC that will only need to be replaced because it can't upgrade to Win11 and the processor is incompatible. Aside from that? Runs current Gen games smoothly and on high settings.

One of the things I've liked about running Draw Steel is that your kit just starts working right at level 1. It gets cool and more awesome as you go up in level, but right at the start the heroes are kicking ass in unique and crazy ways.

I was trying to put my thoughts together to explain it properly, but honestly I think the Intro to the Draw Steel Hero's book probably states it best? It zeros into one of the things I've liked about DS which is it knows what it wants to do and really focuses every mechanic in that area.

Draw Steel protagonists have LOTS of control, even when they don't. Other people in the campaign may experience a situation that could be considered eldritch horror - but when the team shows up it becomes a thriller with horror themes instead

I'm with Jonah and some of the others on this, DS vibes are very different than what eldritch horror requires. The protagonist of your Cthulhu-esk story lacks substantial control and knowledge in addition to being insignificant. Its part of the DNA of the genre.

Probably not helping that Labor is still very much a 'centerist' party here which means there's no real direction to go for the Liberals to go. Maybe it does kind of mirror the 'never-Trump' movement of the Rep party? I'm still too new to Aus politics to give good answers though

Its weird because yeah? I kind of agree with you - the art isn't bad, they clearly put a lot of work into it actually! But both the art and the setting tries to be...everything? As you say, DnD Grey Fantasy. A reskin. The actual gameplay and rules is unique and top-tier for me tho
