daily reminder ✨

DO NOT ask yourself whether your art is GOOD. instead ask: is it SINCERE, is it CATHARTIC, was it FUN TO MAKE, is it MADE BY ME, and don’t forget to stay silly

Hello all, long time no see. I’ve just been slowly working on my painting when I can while dealing with various stress-induced health issues (including having strep for the 6th time this year so now looking at a tonsillectomy 🥲) But I’m completely repainting the tree on the right to be a ginkgo.

Finally broke down and am using a leaf brush more because painting individual leaves for hours on end was getting stupid 😅 Just a few more trees need some leaves, then I’ll start working on finishing their trunks… #全世界都爱敖尹 #BringBackValko #ValkoIsLoved

Been busy with life, but finally got some noticeable progress done! Refined more of his hair & shadowed ear, then worked on the trees a lot. Once I finish the trunks/branches, I’ll start adding more foliage 🍃🍂 #BringBackValko #ValkoIsLoved

Today’s progress while I waited for my car to have maintenance done! Some more skin color refining, & then I wanted to work on the shadow side of the hair, but my screen is too greasy with the glare here ☠️, so I gave one background tree leaves. #BringBackValko #ValkoIsLoved

It's wild blueberry season in Sweden and I've been picking and eating my fill everyday from the forest behind my house! The entire forest floor is covered in wild blueberry bushes and the tangy taste is so cosmic, I had to paint them ✨ #blueberry #art #painting

Proof of progress! Just continuing to refine skin…made a video clip to show the before & after refining I’ve done since adding the color. I’ll just be doing this for the foreseeable future when I have time to paint… #BringBackValko #ValkoIsLoved

This one is so cool because it’s an isekai, so it’s building a world that feels so alive to the main character who already knows the world. I’m someone who loves isekai/time travel fix-it tropes so it’s been fun to get a taste of those tropes in the form of original IP!

Random book recommendation: I’m not a prolific reader of fiction these days (I mostly read novel-length fanfic because I read fast and it’s free 😅), but I picked up this one on a whim, and it’s honestly one of my favorite books now. I even want to paint fan art for it!

Been busy taking care of house and family for a three day weekend, but the good news is that my car is getting maintenance on Wednesday, and that’s gonna mean like 4 hours guaranteed painting time in a coffee shop at least 😅

Someone else on twt said the $14/month subscription is worth it - you get more stylized character figures to pose, and props, etc. I might try it out if I have an idea that needs it 😅

Yup! I have used the free version for pose/lighting references before, but finally did the one time $10 fee to have more options/poses to build off of. It’s convenient to also have it on the iPad since I’m painting in Procreate! This was my 1st ref, and my current (more muscles & hair, wider FOV)
