My kids have decided they love overnight oats and I don't understand who managed to sell everyone on "the raw taste appeal of porridge but lets remove any notion of being a warm comfort food, raw cold sludge is the best way to start the day"

Before Bad Brains, the Sex Pistols or even the Ramones, there was a band called Death. Watched this documentary at the cinema a bunch of years ago, was really exciting to shoot them, was an amazing show

Time for my yearly search to see if there is any web client that supports both Bluesky and Mastodon? Its been 4 years since a sieg heiling trillionaire took over twitter in order to buy an election and people are still using it in part because we haven’t even built the basics of an alternative […]

Also if you are the parent of less snobby children, the Spice Tailor Keralan Coconut Curry is basically cheating. Tastes really good and takes like 10 minutes. I think I may have over used it though.

Made the mistake of giving the kids decent food and they are now refusing my packet curry (which I really liked) in lieu of Mother India's Korma so if anyone has a top notch curry recipe I would appreciate it.

My company once hired Macklemore for a corporate gig and he said "Firefox had the best internet box" and I thought that was going to be the most embarrassing thing involving Macklemore I remembered until Ed Sheeran posted that.

Considering a new wideangle lens for concerts. I have the Fuji 10-24mm f/4 and its just a bit slow. Considering Sigma 10-18 f2.8, Sigma 12mm f1.4 or Fuji 8-16 f2.8, any real world experiences with those?

I want to start categorising my photo library properly. Any recommendations for something that will scan my library, recognise all the same faces and let me give them a name? Trying digikam now and it is ... not good. Lightroom might take me 3 years to finish doing it manually at this rate

This criticism extends to Mastodon to a lesser extent, particularly around the bluesky discourse I see on here. How pure your decentralisation implementation is doesn't matter when it gets in the way making a product that people can use.

Did not need to worry about the eclipse burning my sensor in Glasgow. Was fun though, nice atmosphere when there is a big crowd at our local lookout

@phil The eclipse tonight is during sunset and a cityscape (wider, maybe 100mm most) shot with an ND1000 feels like it should be safer than mane of the things I have shot in the past, but its really hard to read anything other than how my camera will blow up if I take the lens cap off

Dale Harvey @dale.toot.cafe.ap.brid.gy · 11/08/2026

Little confused by the "if you point your camera at the solar eclipse without a solar filter your sensor will melt" vs the .... every landscape photographer pointing their camera towards the sun thousands of times without issue?
