Thunderbolts* was spectacular. I had high expectations & was still blown away, just giddy the entire way. I haven’t felt this paid off for having kept up with the MCU post-endgame, and I haven’t felt this excited for the future since then either. Plus the characters & their chemistry were amazing.

Amazing Nintendo designs I’m worried we’ll never see again 💔😭

Samus in her Metroid Suit from Metroid Dread

Wonder Flower Bowser Jr. from Mario Bros Wonder

Fury Bowser from Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

Demon King Ganondorf from Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

On the left is all the Metroidvania games I’ve finished (almost done with Fusion). On the right are ones I own / are on my radar that I haven’t gone through. Am I missing any big ones? What should I prioritize? Definitely falling in love with this genre the more games I play.

Are these now the only Nintendo franchises (with multiple entries) that aren’t on Switch at all? Would love to see Chibi Robo remastered to gauge public interest!! Nintendogs & Pushmo’s absences are definitely weird in my opinion.

Reviving Tomodachi & Rhythm Heaven after over 10 years, updates on Metroid Prime 4 & Pokémon Legends ZA (though I wish we saw Megas), lifestyle news app, digital transfers, and a few nice looking indies. Honestly for having low expectations it was good! Really exciting time to be a Nintendo tan

DAL’S 2024 TOP 50 Day 48. Number 3! Sonic the Hedgehog 3. My favorite movie of the year. Growing up on the Sonic Adventure titles, I loved how they adapted Shadow’s story. Sonic’s inner conflict & the final space battle were amazing as well. More excited for the franchise’s future than ever!!

DAL’S 2024 TOP 50 Day 44. Number 7! Nightwing by Chuck Dixon. I read the first compendium last year and oh man. I wish I waited for the whole collection to be out! This run is stellar & I love the batfamily status quo of the 90’s. Dick’s supporting cast is awesome. I can’t wait for compendium 2!

DAL’S 2024 TOP 50 Day 43. Number 8! Nightwing by Tom Taylor & Bruno Redondo. This run was very special to me & reached a fantastic conclusion last year. Fallen Grayson was spectacular. I am ready for what’s next, but I am so grateful to this run for giving Dick something defining in the modern era

DAL’S 2024 TOP 50 Day 42. Number 10!! The Penguin. This maybe was the biggest shock all year. This show was absolutely incredible, start to finish. Farrell & Milioti were absolutely transcendent. Clancy Brown had such a powerful presence. Made me so excited for the future of that world. Perfection

I finished my rewatch of Adventure Time. Man. I love Shermy & Beth. I love Finn & Fern’s finale, and Betty & Simon’s. So tragic, so beautiful. Temple of Mars, Bonnibell, & Seventeen are all standout S10 episodes too. Truly one of the best cartoons of all time. Such a great journey.

DAL’S 2024 TOP 50 Day 40. Number 11: Dandadan This show was really delightful. A first season that keeps you coming back week to week excited, knowing that it’ll make you laugh / feel / get hyped. The action is awesome, but the relationships are what make this really special. Can’t wait for more!

DAL’S 2024 TOP 50 Day 38. Number 13: Robot Dreams. I posted about this when I watched but oh man. Visually stunning. Incredible character & background designs. An astoundingly good story (in a silent film no less!). A beautiful ending. 2D animation in film is not a lost art after all. 5⭐️

Today I watched the new batch of Pokémon Horizons episodes while doing stuff around the house all day. These 11 episodes were really great. Fun battles, great character moments (Dot💜), and the introduction of so many Paldean characters I love! A fun take on the gym formula that keeps things fresh.

This week I finished Zdarsky’s run on Batman with the release of #157 (or 922). This run had high highs with Failsafe, Zur, issue 900, Jimenez’s art, & Tim Drake. Some arcs left something to be desired (Gotham War). Not sure if I’m excited for H2SH, but I’m always down to see what’s next for Bats!!

The other night I watched Fat Albert (2004). I never saw this as a kid but man it was a good time. The obvious caveat aside, this movie is a ton of fun & Kenan is great. The animated scenes look great. And it was just really funny! Loved the music too.

I don’t think Invincible’s animation is bad. Honestly, S3 seems like a step up. But it’s not *impressive*. They have all this Amazon money, all this hype behind the series, and these long hiatuses, and the only time the animation was truly impressive was the Atom Eve special.

DAL’S 2024 TOP 50 Day 35. Number 16. Teen Titans: Starfire by Kami Garcia & Gabriel Picolo. I absolutely adore these graphic novels. I look forward to every new one & honestly wish it was an ongoing series. I love these versions of the characters & I love the art. I can’t wait for what’s next!

DAL’S 2024 TOP 50 Day 34. Number 17: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom I was skeptical about relying on using enemies instead of fighting directly. But I was wrong. It was so fresh & fun to strategize different ways to fight & solve puzzles as Zelda! I hope we keep getting new 2D Zelda!

I finished Adventure Time Season 8. This season has lots of strong episodes. Islands is great, better than Stakes in some ways. Finn & Susan’s origins explained were so, so good. The birth of Fern (which should be S7’s ending) is always amazing to see. Broke his Crown is the standout for me though.

DAL’S 2024 TOP 50 Day 33. Number 18: Smiling Friends Season 2 This show is one of the best things to happen to adult animation the past couple years. It’s ridiculously funny, innovative in it’s animation, well acted, and endlessly rewatchable. One of the easiest shows to put on w friends around.

DAL’S 2024 TOP 50 Day 32. Number 19: We Love Katamari REROLL. The remake for WLK might be even better then Damacy. It’s a brilliant concept with the wackiest execution. The music is phenomenal and it’s the perfect game to play w friends & have a laugh. I love this series so, so much.

I recently finished Adventure Time Season 7. Stakes is the highlight of course. Crossover brings back my favorite story arc. King’s Ransom is maybe the best Ice King episode. More You Moe is the best BMO episode. The season was sadly shortened in the official releases & ends up anticlimactic:/

DAL’S 2024 TOP 50 Day 31. Number 20: The Walking Dead I watched Daryl Dixon S2 & The Ones Who Live last year, and both were fantastic. Daryl continued to be shockingly good at every turn, except one decision I wasn’t happy about. TOWL was a perfect ending for Michonne & Rick. Sobbed at the end.

Over the weekend I saw three movies: Dog Man, Companion, & One of Them Days. Dog Man was visually lovely & moving at times but very overstimulating & erratic. Companion was shockingly intense & had a great twist. One of Them Days was hysterical, Keke is just so brilliant.

DAL’S 2024 TOP 50 Day 29. Number 22: Ms. Marvel by Wilson & Champions by Waid. Combining these two into one as I did a whole readthrough of Kamala Khan stories last year. Ms. M tells a beautiful story about finding yourself, family, & friendship. A great supporting cast. A perfect superhero story.

Craig had a huge cast of well written, well designed, & charming characters that all had their moment to shine across 180 episodes. I teared up at the ice pop trio moment in the finale. I’m glad we got moments with the family. Feels like the end of an era, but I’m glad Craig had sich a good run

Yesterday I watched the finale of Craig of the Creek. It was incredibly bittersweet. Craig has been a very special show that I hope a lot of kids grew up with and loved.
