As that's likely, the more interesting story will probably be that a division winner (AL West) won't have a winning record in a full season. The 2005 Padres came close at 82-80. The Astros and Rangers can't finish better than that; one of them must win all 4 remaining to avert that story.

Correction: If O's sweep NYY to finish at 81-81, Rangers need to finish 3-1 to be above them (they're 78-80), and Astros need to finish 4-1 to be above them (O's win tiebreak)

The Rangers lost; they must go 2-2 to avoid the O's wrath.

In this quote being overstretched to apply to an event on reeling in AI, is Bernie a Nazi for being at the table? You may not think that, but it encourages overreacting toward that conclusion.

According to that silly standard, we should clutch our pearls when Democratic senators attend the Senate because there are fascists being given time to speak there, and there are oligarchs helping fund its actions. Like the Senate (at least hypothetically), this event was public-facing.

I think it's unfair to equate participating in the same non-Nazi event hosted by non-Nazis with fraternizing with Nazis. That said, it'd be a dumb decision if he hypothetically ran a 3rd time. He'd be 87 entering a 1st term, exiting at 91. That's by far a bigger reason to be looking elsewhere.

This also applies to mountain ranges in SoCal that exceed 5k feet, which is probably a comparable threshold to where the snow line gets cut off elsewhere. (It could even be 4k feet.) That region has over a half dozen ranges with such mountains.

I think the 2014–2016 El Nino lasted about 1½ years above the 0.5 index threshold for region 3.4, and I think that's the record-longest so far.

Certainly another factor people will gravitate toward. The main obstacle has been getting a competitive solid state battery out, not whether it's getting the amazing specs alleged in the lab.

Daniel Kessler @dak4blizzard.bsky.social · 20/08/2026
In this case, I'd disagree about the lab not translating to the road, because 750 mi of range and <10 mins isn't needed to change the landscape. A solid state battery getting 500 mi and <20 mins on the road would also accomplish that. I'll grant that cost would be a question.

That reminds me of Jim Gaffigan's joke: "Being Catholic's all about memorization. I have a horrible memory. I'm always like, 'Our Father, who art in Heaven, without the written, approved consent of Major League Baseball...'"

Fortunately, CO2 doesn't begin becoming a breathing problem till 1k ppm. It's not serious till 10k ppm (and typically not fatal till 100k). Cities could be prone to 1k ppm for global CO2 above ~550 ppm. But that assumes cars and energy mostly remain on fossil fuels (which spikes CO2 in cities).
020
Daniel Kessler @dak4blizzard.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
It's not much for CO2 concentration to exceed recorded history, when it remained under 280 ppm. It's more impressive that CO2 was last at 400 ppm a few million years ago, and quite possibly 14 mya for 430 ppm. (We'll be more confident about it being 14 mya when it reaches 440 ppm.)

Land is expected to keep outpacing warming (except maybe tropical and marine climates). The jet stream is expected to keep weakening for more fluctuations, but summers can typically be expected to warm. The big fingerprint will be London's overall summer temp, not that it was cool in early June.

At the time of the tweet, Republicans weren't doing mid-decade gerrymandering with a canceled Voting Rights Act article 2. More importantly, the person who tweeted it (Kyle) still desires the same outcome as Brian: force the GOP to accept statutes against gerrymandering by beating them at it.

The current GFS for May 22–26 shows a very beneficial rain pattern of about 4" that we could really use. Esp with above avg temps likely coming for the week leading up to that.

Gray's take was truly shortsighted & misguided. She said she backed Bernie Sanders in her very next Tweet. Bernie emphasized that his campaign was about overhauling the political system, and accomplishing that becomes virtually impossible without agreeable courts, esp SCOTUS.

Also, the moon is 30 Earth diameters away from Earth. It's not that close, which is fortunate because the tidal forcing would likely be catastrophic at that portrayed distance.

Honestly, we're fortunate the West Texas Intermediate oil price has held pretty steady in the $90s for this long: 10 days. When regular gasoline was $5/gal in June 2022, the WTI price was $120. I'll be surprised if it doesn't get there as the market plays out in coming weeks.

It's too early for the majority of Americans to understand this won't end cleanly, period. Mainstream media defaults to offensive wars being controlled and justified. But that narrative will break as it drags on with visible losses (not limited to troops), and $4+ avg gas prices will be a start.

I think the record is 110-21 in favor of more winter. That's a .840 win pct for winter. Early spring is the Washington Generals of this tradition. But with late winter mellowing more often, Phil's forecasts have been getting a bit more wrong: 30% the last 10 years compared to 39% historically.
