I even gave up, for a while, stopping by the window of the room to look out at the lights and deep, illuminated streets. That's a form of dying, that losing contact with the city like that.

Not quite sure about this The Journal article. It's not mass surveillance but every message will be judged by an algorithm www.thejournal.ie/explainer-ch...
Screenshot of a The Journal article showing two paragraphs of text. The first reads: “A sober look at the derogations or future proposals don’t indicate anything that we usually think of when we hear ‘mass surveillance’.” The second says that none of the proposals would allow the government to read individuals’ messages at will; instead, messages flagged by algorithms, whether correctly or incorrectly, would be sent to an anti-child abuse agency.

They're taking it well on LinkedIn. Though disappointing to hear the drone man say they'll back and waiting on "clarity" about drone operation.
Screenshot of a LinkedIn post. The post reads: “Our political class seem more exercised about things they have absolutely zero influence over, than they are about ensuring Ireland’s future economic prosperity.”

Below, the post tags Maeve O’Connell TD and Shay Brennan TD and continues: “I voted in Dublin Rathdown for this Government to make this country better. You blew it.”

O'Callaghan knows the score!
Screenshot of an Irish Independent article excerpt quoting Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan. The text says he wants to reduce the number of migrants claiming asylum in Ireland and believes Irish reunification could happen “quicker than we think” as part of his bid for the leadership of Fianna Fáil. A second paragraph references an interview on the Indo Politics podcast, where he called for a “mature discussion around migration.”

Nice follow up from the previous article. The focus on housing from the FF councillor is a bit odd. Finglas is very built up already and has lots of new apartments, but isn't translating to anything else. And I'm not sure a new "depot" is significant either.
Jackie O’Reilly, the Ballymun area manager, said the presentation that showed the 2 percent figure for the North West Area was “misleading”.

The area has had significant investment, O’Reilly said.

She pointed to the North City Operations Depot, the council’s new “super depot”, which it spent about €74 million to build in the area, near Ikea.

That depot consists of a four-storey office block, warehouses, workshops, car parks and more. The council planned to relocate almost 600 staff members from other, smaller depots to this new one.

I know age verification will probably come to Ireland soon anyway, but fairly sure Sony has just lumped Ireland in with the UK now rather than wait.
Screenshot of a PlayStation help page under the heading “Overview.” A collapsed section titled “What is age verification (for UK & Ireland accounts)?” appears above an expanded section titled “Why am I asked to verify my age?” The expanded section explains that, in line with local laws and regulations, age verification is used to provide an appropriate PlayStation experience and help protect younger users.

Perhaps a slightly straightforward way of making public transport more appealing to car users, especially with this fuel issue, would be to get rid of the Dublin commuter zones are or at least compress them into two.

Just a really odd start by Clifford where just tells us to ignore Trump and Greenland so he can focus on one of his favourite subjects , Trans people! (It's also a really snide article from him because he mentions everyone but barely talks about the student and never considers them.)
Screenshot of article from the Irish Examiner : "Let’s give Trump a wide berth for a column. He is sucking enough oxygen out of the atmosphere, as he increasingly regresses to the mentality of a five-year-old. Give him Greenland in a baby bottle, it might keep him quiet for a few hours."

I'm obviously not against more housing but Finglas is very built up with lots of apartments squeezed into areas. I'm not sure how much unlocking Finglas has left or why the Luas would cause this.

A niche topic but the new F3 bus route amazes me. Why would someone in McKee Ave in Finglas have to go around Finglas West and South to get to the city. It's the only bus route that goes down the road.

There was much detail in the Indo about the investigative efforts the paper made in uncovering Gavin’s behaviour. What the newspaper and its editorial staff did not say is that the scoop was handed on a plate to them by Gavin’s tenant who happens to be a fellow colleague in Mediahuis, owner of the Indo and various titles, including the Sunday World. That former tenant is the deputy editor of the World, Niall Donald.

I don't really know what Humphreys has accomplished in terms of a United Ireland. It all feels very "identity politics" from people who hate identity politics.
A LinkedIn post by Sarah Carey reads: “Olivia O’Leary asking some questions I too had wailed into the void. Why didn’t FG lean into her heritage rather than panic? If people are really serious about a united Ireland then electing an Ulster Presbyterian would be an incredible demonstration of what the new state could mean. Or have the Tones and Kneecap won?”

Something very amusing about Connolly getting (deservedly) raked over the coals for nominating O'Doherty and now getting asked why she isn't helping someone else get nominated (who shares quite a lot views with O'Doherty)
"A newspaper excerpt stating: 'Asked by The Irish Times about the possibility that she would do so to allow for greater choice for the electorate Ms Connolly said: "I wish Maria Steen the best of luck in her bid to receive the required nominations."'"
