Despite his appearance, King D-Mind has no relation to Dedede. The reason for the resemblance, as explained by Shinya Kumazaki in an interview, is because Dark Taranza created what he considered to be the most powerful warrior, a reference to Taranza thinking Dedede to be Dream Land's hero.
King D-Mind being summoned by Dark Taranza in Team Kirby Clash DeluxePart of an interview for Team Kirby Clash Deluxe. Translation by syzekrom on tumblr. English names added in parenthesis by me for clarity.

Kumazaki: Given that Taranza manipulated Great King Dedede as the Hero of the Lower World in "Kirby of the Stars: Triple Deluxe", King D-Mind was created from the "Distorted Mirror" (Black Mirror, though according to its page on WiKirby, the name is the same in Japanese. However, I don't know what else this could be referring to.) as what Dark Taranza considers the most savage individual. The backstory of "Kirby of the Stars: The Great Labyrinth of Mirrors" (Kirby & The Amazing Mirror) is that "Evil minds were gathered and born within the Dimension Mirror". This time, Taranza's evil mind gathers in King D-Mind, who is not the actual Great King Dedede, and consequently, Dark Mind emerges from within his body. Dark Taranza produced what he considered to be the strongest warrior, but despite his efforts, in the end he'll be discarded, a development typical for Taranza.

As revealed in a Miiverse post about Kirby Triple Deluxe, the different colors of musical notes correspond to which composer wrote the song. Songs composed by Jun Ishikawa have red notes while those composed by Hirokazu Ando have blue notes.
Part of a Miiverse post about Kirby Triple Deluxe posted by Satoshi Ishida and quoting Shinya Kumazaki. Specific names of the composers have been added by me in parenthesis for clarity.

In addition, you may notice the musical notes floating in the background while each track plays. Those actually have a little secret to them. The music in the Kirby series is created by two different composers. The songs with the red musical notes were composed by someone who's been on board since Kirby's Dream Land. (Jun Ishikawa) The blue notes appear for songs created by the second composer (Hirozaku Ando), who joined the team for Kirby's Adventure.

Addendum because this is slightly misleading: HAL developed Smash 64 & Melee, however Brawl onwards were primarily developed by Sakurai's company Sora Ltd.
