I think my children would be able to survive a climate crisis (with food/electrical rationing) bc of where I live, BUT I still really worry about things like them being conscripted to gun down climate refugees at the border. It really makes me hesitate to have kids and no news tackle that worry.

Losing contact was so easy that I've seen at least two Jane Doe cases solved recently with DNA where the only reason they weren't solved immediately was bc the family never even bothered to report them missing, they just figured they'd hitched a ride to California and started over! Sad shit.

Adapting a series literally named after a prophecy and then removing all the prophecies was a genuinely maddening decision. Same with removing the warging when that's clearly the thing that connects the Stark children and sets them apart from all the rest.

I kind of think he wanted Ned out of the way bc he's still hung up about Cat (and Sansa), but he didn't want it to be traced back to himself unless absolutely necessary, which it turned out to be. Even his contingency plan of Ned fucking off to the Wall makes Cat a widow of sorts, a bit of hope

(I think GRRM set up the Spicers as players for the Northern Throne as stewards of Robb's son, along with Sansa, fake Arya, Jon and Rickon. Multiple seasons worth of story in the hands of good writers, who'd see the potential and ask GRRM about it instead of about "epic twists" like Hodor)

They fucked up as early as S2 when they made Robb fall in love and defile his honour instead of being snared by a conspiracy playing directly on that honour and Ned/Cat's treatment of Jon, too lazy to set it up!

I never really liked that idea bc they didn't really run out of books, they had seasons worth of political intrigue set up. They just decided to cut a bunch of stuff they didn't think was needed. Bc they were lazy or just wanted the show over with.

But does any of the Southern lords even know about his supposed powers, much less believe in them? They didn't really have him spread the tale around, did they? And the South have fought religious wars to get rid of the Old Gods before! The Seven no likey the weir-tree database!

I rewatched those early seasons once and boy were the D&D-written brothel exposition scenes way more obvious and grating. It made me see where Ian McShane was coming from when he said the show was just tits and dragons

I'm not certain how sincere he was about helping Ned, but book LF would so clearly NEVER give Sansa to Ramsay. She's clearly Cat 2.0 to him and even if she wasn't it's a really fucking stupid marriage that he's too smart to arrange with the last living legitimate heir to the Northern throne.

My theory is that he finished the last book ages ago, because he's been clear about knowing how it ends. He just has trouble getting things to line up with the start of that book, getting all the players in line and tying up loose POVs etc He'd get to wow everyone with 2 books at once if he could

Only thing I remember: I doubted that a lady didn't know her husband had a gf, bc they had separate beds and he had a badly hidden photo of himself and the gf on his nightstand. Instead I freaked out and accused her of the murder that her husband clearly faked to run out on her. Poor lady.
