the gnarled old hand of someone who's spent their entire life working #ThickTrunkTuesday #Trees #TreeBark #TextureTuesday #Moss #Fall

a truly thick (maple?) tree trunk forks into at least nine thick finger-like branches in a leftward direction, with gritty bark, covered in moss in some places, dapppled with light & shadow, a few soon-to-fall leaves on the ends, and hints of cloudy sky in the background... a very "busy" scene

the bottom of this exam table at work looks like a Pixar villain #Pareidolia

the front and base of a hospital exam chair, with plastic parts hopefully unintentionally arranged in such a way as to resemble a face with a slightly sinister smirk, looking like an 80's robo-villain

a view from Silent Hill, or just in the parking lot on the way to the doctor on a foggy Monday morning #MonochromeMonday #Monochrome #Fog #Trees #UrbanPhotography

a diverse series of planted trees in a line, with a street lamp in front of them, fairly close and yet still somewhat obscured by the fog that completely obscures anything that would have been visible behind them; while technically not monochrome in the purest sense, the scene has been naturally rendered nearly so by the thick mist

I was torn between two versions of this - this one, and one lighter one. I'd solicited opinions from friends, who universally voted for the lighter one. I had THOUGHT I was undecided, but my instinctive resistance to their unanimous opinion told me I actually DID […] [Original post on meow.social]

a deep blue sky with a very slight diagnoal wisp of cloud streaking across it, with the ominous shadow of an orb weaver spider parked squarely center in frame, facing downwards and seated in a nearly invisible web

a background of blue sky with wispy clouds, and in the foreground the silhouette of one spider and dozens of small gnat-sized bugs caught in an otherwise invisible web, with some overhanging apartment roof across the top

a lot of peeps been sharing some gorgeous fall colors, and still being 80% bedbound I feel like I've been missing some golden opportunities around this area, but did my best with some of the trees in my apartment complex showing off their fall goods #Bloomscrolling #Fall #FallColors #Trees

A magnificent rounded maple towering three stories tall, as seen from ground level; it is partially shaded on the left, and much of its lower and more interior leaves are still retaining their green, but the most sun-exposed ones on the top and outer edges are showing off a rich golden orange. A "warm" filter has been applied to the base image, accentuating the richness of the natural color spectrum.

this thing looks like an absolute fossilized relic; it's a wonder power goes through it at all #Audio #Cable #MagicInTheMundane #Ordinary #MacroPhotography

a close-up of a bit of power cable near the sound mixer at a local open mic; it is THICK black plastic cable, tangled in a knot that seems to defy physics, and has spent so many years in that same position that layers of dust and cobweb have settled on it, and it is likely as unyielding as the metal bar it's wrapped around

this pale blue dot is truly magical, and I will be sad when it's gone #SunsetSaturday #Sunset #SunsetPhotography #PNW

I haven't shared much of my mewsical self in this space, which I know I need to rectify, it's just challenging because I tend to veer more toward the "live music" setting than "studio recording", but neat view of my instrument anyways :3 #Music #Vibes #Photography

a nearly monochrome and very aggressively "mechanical" view through the metal bars of a keyboard instrument (in this case a vibraphone), brightly lit beneath and offering fleeting glimpses of other parts if the instrument's mechanism, including resonator tubes

and a Much Less Monochrome Monday, the same dock, after the fog had cleared >^..^< #Ocean #Fog #Birds

the same dock as before, but with fog mostly cleared, and sky and the not-too-distant island hills visible behind a last sliver of fog, with gulls still perched on the dock's roof, now sunning themselves

the swanniest squash I've ever seen, love it or hate it (my friend HATES swans with a fiery passion) #MagicInTheMundane #Squash #Pumpkin #Swan

A curious squash found in the "mini pumpkins" bargain bin at Local Grocery Store, orange with an extremely long neck wrapped back around toward the base shaped EXACTLY like a swan's neck, reinforced by a patch of dark green on the end for eyes, and a bit of stalk resembling a beak. I honestly felt pretty bad looking at the rest of the bin; it looked like the results of hundreds of failed genetic experiments, lots of tortured Frankenstein souls.

love the way it nearly seamlessly blends into its surroundings (by design) #FootpathFriday #Bridge #NaturePhotography #Hiking #PNW

A somewhat cluttered view (as there was no one 'perfect' angle to capture the intent) of a short, maybe 15 feet long or so, stone bridge running over a creek filled with moss-covered stones, hiding behind some bushy trees, and blending in remarkably well with the shape & color of the boulders behind it. This bridge will be completely buried in ten feet of snow three months from now, and has been documented in that state before, but for now, it's here, comfortably adapted to its environment.

$a plain ol' boring plastic water bottle sitting on a wooden post in someone's back yard trailer, but if you zoom in to full resolution, the lower half is filled with flowing curves of the bottle's shape that refract and warp the image of the surrounding scene, with a few tiny air bubbles, while the top portion is coated on the inside with condensation in a pattern that resembles frost$

some neat looking power lines in my neighborhood, that made the five mile walk from where I dropped my car off at the repair shop to home, worth the walk instead of ubering #UrbanPhotography #StreetPhotography #Cityscape #Silhouette

a close-up of some berries in near silhouette, with some out-of-focus overhead power lines in the background on a cloudy day

a gray & cloud-filled sky interrupted by a metal spear running through the scene left to right, absolutely bristling with stop lights pointing in every direction

a single telephone pole serving as a somewhat central hub for dozens of lines running every which way from it, beneath a cloudy sky with the slightest hint of sunset near the bottom

a straight-overhead view of some horizontal power lines, including some sort of attachment whose specific function someone who knows more about these things than I do can probably immediately articulate, but that to a layman resembles a hockey mask, Jason Voorhees style
