If this keeps happening, consider taking a break from using poppers, avoid pressing the bottle directly against your skin (you don't need to), and some people find that applying a small amount of petroleum jelly around the outside of the nostrils can help protect the skin.

The why. As poppers evaporate, some of the liquid or vapour can end up around the bottle opening. If that comes into contact with the sensitive skin around your nostrils, it may cause irritation or even a chemical burn.

Why. If your bottle is cold, it doesn't evaporate as readily. Poppers work by evaporating into a vapour. If the bottle is very cold, evaporation is slower, so the effect can feel weaker. Warming it gently can help produce more vapour. It's a tiny change, but one that's worth trying.
