From Wikipedia: Jane grew up in London and became guardian to her orphan cousin Mary. On her father's death in 1784, she decided to embark on the Grand Tour accompanied by her invalid sister Elizabeth, her younger orphaned cousin, and a female friend from London.

The two cousins became greatly attached to each other and in 1795 decided to set up home together in Devon. They negotiated the purchase of 15 acres (6.1 ha) of land near Exmouth. Once their house had been built they lived secluded and somewhat eccentric lives for many years until 1811 when Jane died.

I just learned about A La Ronde, a fascinating building in Devon, UK and its architects. Jane and Mary Parminter who were in many ways, trailblazers. I admit I am a sucker for Byzantine architecture so I am biased but I do find this building charming.

A la prensa, opinión pública y autoridades:
Estamos aquí para dejar de manifiesto el dolor e indignación que nos causa el trato que recibimos por parte de sectores importantes de la sociedad, e incluso dentro de la comunidad de disidencia sexo-genérica. Esta protesta es resultado de los recientes incidentes y agresiones que se han ido acumulando estos últimos meses, continuación de años de discriminación, pero que nos queda claro son producto de un sistema social que se encarga de aislar, vilipendiar y erradicar cualquier existencia que no sea heterocis, blanqueada, neurotípica, "sana" o burguesa, es decir, hegemónica. Sistema que también se encarga de cerrar y demonizar espacios y organizaciones que activamente buscan resistir a todas las violencias impuestas que nos atraviesan.

Primero, nos posicionamos sobre el problema del continuo acoso transmisógino vivido en los sistemas de transporte público como el metro. Los vagones exclusivos de mujeres son una medida tomada para evitar, más no combatir, el acoso sexual misógino, el cual es tan serio que se tuvieron que implementar estos espacios segregados, y debe ser combatido. Es evidente que las mujeres trans son sujetas al mismo acoso cosificante y humillante en el transporte público y en la sociedad – atravesado de forma única por el cissexismo y la transfobia, y nuestra posición inamovible es que ellas, nosotras, nosotrans, tienen todo el derecho a usarlos sin tener miedo a ser exhibidas, humilladas y expulsadas de esos espacios por absolutamente nadie: sean policías, civiles, servidores y servidoras públicos, consciente o inconscientemente transfóbicos. Estos actos que han afectado a mujeres trans no son sólo incidentes aislados: se han vuelto un patrón que nos preocupa, tomando en cuenta otras acciones relacionadas y significativas, como el hecho de que el gobierno de Carla Brugada ha bloqueado las capacitaciones internas de sensibilización en temas LGBT+, la presencia TERF dentro de Morena, la designación de una mujer transfóbica, Renata Turrent, para dirigir un canal de difusión nacional financiado por el erario público, pese a las manifestaciones en contra por parte de la comunidad, las propuestas de diálogo y acciones de reparación ignoradas, el crecimiento de la ultraderecha y el fascismo a nivel nacional e internacional, entre otras. Es por ello que exigimos que el gobierno, en todos sus niveles, implemente o retome las capacitaciones de sensibilización, y que haya mecanismos para asegurar la integridad y dignidad de las mujeres, tanto cis como trans, y otras disidencias atravesadas por la misoginia dentro del transporte público.

Esto nos lleva al segundo punto: queremos enfatizar que rechazamos tajantemente la implementación de cualquier mecanismo para "verificar" el género, y cualquier acción discriminatoria, sea dentro o fuera de la comunidad trans, que busque juzgar las características físicas de alguien para determinar rasgos adecuados de "feminidad". Estás acciones se vuelven aún más desafortunadas si vienen de figuras trans prominentes, y es por eso que damos todo nuestro apoyo a Marina del Tráfico, y a cualquier otra mujer trans que ha sido sometida a escrutinios de este tipo, sobajando su dignidad. Los juicios de este tipo no hacen más que centrar estándares misóginos de belleza que sostienen a la supremacía blanca y al capacitismo en donde ni siquiera las mujeres cis son capaces de encajar, y las que ni ellas ni nosotrans debemos aspirar a cumplir, ni mucho menos deberíamos tolerar se impongan sobre nuestros cuerpos.
Reiteramos que el acceso a los vagones exclusivos de mujeres son espacios a los que toda mujer (y persona atravesada directamente de alguna forma por la misoginia) tiene derecho independientemente de su aspecto físico. Y hacemos un llamado a la sociedad de no dejarse llevar por notas alarmistas con una clara motivación política.
La violencia machista no espera ni necesita "disfrazarse de mujer" para hacer daño, la hace ya todos los días vestida de hombre.

Finalmente, denunciamos el acaparamiento por parte de agentes partidistas, cercanos al Estado, de espacios de diálogo a puerta cerrada, con las autoridades del Metro. Un puñado de personas trans con afiliación partidista, inofensivas, dóciles y serviles con la burocracia no son representativas de la comunidad, de ninguna manera legitimadas para hablar por nosotrans. Exigimos una convocatoria pública y amplia en la que pueda participar cualquiera que desee ser escuchade por las autoridades, y donde exista un espacio para intervenir en la toma de decisiones que le afectan en su vida diaria.
Queremos ir a trabajar, regresar a casa, salir al parque, ver a nuestra familia y amigues, sin ser señalades, ridiculizades, criminalizades, excluides y violentades en el transporte público por tratar de resguardarnos del mismo acoso que sufren las mujeres cis. Queremos, y tenemos el derecho a existir en el espacio público como cualquier otra persona. Queremos y tenemos el derecho a vivir una vida feliz, tranquila y libre de violencias. Porque, les guste o no, lo comprendan o no, siempre hemos existido, existimos, y por siempre seguiremos existiendo.

Jerusalem Demsas answers: I would love to see evidence of this, some of the right-of-center people I know who acknowledge the rise in Nazism feel like their feeds are more "balanced" now (w/r/t the average American's views) than they were pre-Elon. So it's hard to go off of vibes alone.
I would analogize this to any out-of-power movement in decades past trying to get published in popular newspapers. Were the editors biased against them? Yes. Were the readers more likely to view their arguments unfairly? Yes. But also, you gotta go where the action is to make your case, no matter how unfair it is.

We are so fucked. In fact, we are so fucked, it may already be too late for this book. By the time you read this, Greenland may have melted, causing the world’s oceans to rise by twenty feet. By the time you read this, everyone in the United States may be dead in a gunfight. By the time you read this, some idiot country may have launched a bomb at another idiot country. Facebook may have accidentally released everyone’s private information into the public sphere, Twitter leadership may be getting measured for their new Hugo Boss uniforms, and Silicon Valley may be lobbying Congress to just make women illegal. In which case, nothing in this book will matter. So the fact that I’m writing this book is either the most stupid or the most hopeful act I can imagine. To be honest with you, I think it’s a bit of both.
