As the office closes until the new year, we wish everyone a Happy Christmas. Image: A company Christmas card sent to employees of the Ovaltine Factory.

A little girl in white pyjamas climbs into bed, offering a cup of Ovaltine to her teddy bear. Her Christmas stocking is already full of Ovaltine. Her mother, wearing a green dress watches over her. In the background is a small Christmas tree decorated with baubles, and Christmas cards line the top of a chest of drawers.

Auditing the collection takes a long time ... especially when we have a drawers and boxes full of artwork and advertising to go through that capture our imagination. This photo does not do justice to the detail, creativity and skill that the Ovaltine artists of Kings Langley poured into their work.

black and white illustration of a man in hat and coat posting a letter with a street scene in front of him. The c. 1940s bus has an advertisement for Ovaltine on the side.

It's #nationalillustrationday2024 and coincidentally John, one of our volunteers, has been working through a drawer full of Ovaltine advertising materials. This illustration is one of thousands that we hold at Dacorum Heritage. It particularly caught our eye due to the current weather.

A black and white advertising illustration of a lady wearing a hat and raincoat, holding an umbrella who is knocking on the door. The caption reads "When the Weather's at its worst Ovaltine is your Best Safeguard of Health"
