A beautiful day at the docks.

Sunny Seattle Shilshole ships.
A view of Shilshole marina in Seattle. Two docks on either side of the picture are full of sailboats. The blue water is calm and reflective. Olympic mountains rise in the distance.

Low tide so low some boats are sitting on their hulls.
Picture of Shilshole marina in Seattle with a boat tied up to the dock that is actually resting on its hill. Exposed dirt and rock are just a few feet to the right of the boat.

Fresh pots!
An upward facing shot of stacked crab pots in the back of a flatbed. The pots are stacked 6 high and there are 7 rows. A blue sky is in the background.

Fired up aperture by Tailscale...instantly alerted to the fact that my starting prompt is 40k tokens. Not terrible and I think it's par for the course as most of it is system prompt type stuff, but the insight is so nice.
Screenshot of "Metrics by Model" from the aperture dashboard showing claude-opus-4-6 model with 3 requests and 43,605 tokens estimated at $0.27.

I had prompted it with that combo initially because it had come up elsewhere. That said, it used previous discussions to drive the convo in that ultimate direction, which was interesting.

You could build:

I need this for my desk.
A high-quality marketing photo of a plush toy inspired by the Claude Code avatar, sitting on a wooden desk next to a laptop displaying code. The "stuffy" is a vibrant coral-red color with a round, fuzzy body covered in numerous soft, conical fabric spikes that give it a playful, sea-urchin-like appearance. It has two simple, glossy black eyes and a small, friendly smile. The plush is holding a small, rolled-up paper scroll tied with a red ribbon that reads "AI CODING COMPANION." The background is a brightly lit, modern home office with a blurred bookshelf and a small potted succulent. In the bottom right corner, the Anthropic logo is visible.

Claude over here roasting me on my HA/Tailscale/K8s setup. To be fair...it's warranted.
A screenshot of the text:

Ha, yeah. The "I just want to run Home Assistant" starter pack:

  - 5 control plane pods (the price of admission)
  - 4 Fleet pods (so you can GitOps the 1 app)
  - 1 local-path-provisioner (so HA can save files)
  - 1 Tailscale operator + 1 proxy pod (so you can reach it)
  - 1 ExternalDNS pod (so it has a nice name)
  - 1 Home Assistant pod (the actual thing you wanted)

13 pods of infrastructure, 1 pod of value. That's the k8s tax.

The good news is the overhead is basically flat — adding the next 10 apps costs ~1 pod each (plus a TS proxy if you expose them). The bad
news is you could've done this with docker run and a Tailscale sidecar in about 5 minutes.

But hey, now you have GitOps.

How I feel today. #GoHawks
A pivotal moment from the Seahawks vs. Rams NFC Championship game where a Rams punt returner muffed the catch and a Seahawk is seen running past him to recover the ball as the Seahawks go on to win the game. The Ram player is bent over backwards with legs sprawling in the air as he tries to reach hopelessly for the ball that is now behind him.

A tweet from an alleged Anthropic engineer stating:

I believe this new model in Claude Code is a glimpse of the future we're hurtling towards, maybe as soon as the first half of next year: software engineering is done.

Soon, we won't bother to check generated code, for the same reasons we don't check compiler output.

Literally just ran into this. An entire page of results, only 1 of which was an actual organic result. 🫠 And its even worse than in the picture – the result was almost 2 scrolls below the fold and there were *more* sponsored results below it! Source: www.instagram.com/p/DDbmv-yNij...

The title says "Googling stuff..."

With the left side saying "... Then"

Then a drop down with/"search results:" and "the thing you want" in a yellow box

On the right it says "... Now" with a drop down that features a VERY long list of things starting with "ai taking a wild stab at it with some blatant misinformation", 4 iterations of "sponsored result" a box featuring "people also ask", a sub box saying view products with images and what is likely the top of the yellow box that would Contain "the thing you want"
