SQLite is really an amazing piece of technology. I love using it. I haven’t needed to scale it up yet. That’ll be fun if someone wants to use this app at a larger scale ;)

Oh. Chat limitations are both software and hardware. It uses SQLite so you can’t just “add another instance of the app”. Hardware because it depends on how much memory is available for the app. Theoretically, the more memory, the more users it could handle.

The limit is felt at a persons web browser because it has to manage every stream ( video, audio and screen share - 3 possible streams per person). If there are 2 people streaming video and audio, each persons web browser has to manage 4 streams (memory + CPU + network bandwidth).

The chatting facility could probably handle 50 people. But the video streaming is peer-to-peer so it’ll probably only work really well for 5 people streaming video and their screens. I haven’t tested streaming beyond 5 people.
