That's so unfortunate and frustrating. I'm sorry you have to deal with all of that. I feel like file corruption seems to be more and more common lately, and with how expensive storage is, proper backups are a pain (when feasible).

With generative ai slop getting more pervasive, it's healing to see the artists I follow share the work they made.

This indigenous people's day, remember that indigenous folk are people with ongoing cultures and socio-political identities and struggles.v We're here and now and genocide is an ongoing project. Take this time to learn whose lands you're on and the struggles they're currently facing.

Figuring out that I can change audio source settings to stereo was a game changer. Finding out most recent bluray releases only give you a surround file is the curse I now understand.

This reminds me of when I was a kid and found a keychain in a tree. It wasn't important, and I don't know why it was there, but I saw it sparkle from a distance. My brain just knew it was a key item to pickup.

This game is great, and this spooky season would be a great time to pick it up and give it a try!

I don't remember if this was really the first, but The Frighteners (1996) gave me my first real taste of existential terror as a kid that I still remember.

I'm torn between how convenient it would be and how my giant hands would probably make it way less practical for me personally.

Part of it might be how many miles the car has and what kind of engine is in it, but it honestly could be whatever oil they have on hand. There might be a cheaper option that whoever you went to won't/isn't using for whatever their reasons might be.

This thought is definitely inspired by a few games/series but I really do think overall folks are way to eager to share a take and then seem to get lost "defending" rather than appreciating a good narrative.

I think it would really help folks get more from video game stories if they just took a metaphorical step back and looked at the whole picture of what they're talking about before trying to discuss it.

Some folks with strong opinions seem to really like to ignore the whole cult business in SH 1 & 3.

Silent Hill: Townfall is so good. It feels like a solid new step for the series after Remake and f imo.

But which one would you knock off the list for 9?

This image is immediately selling me on the idea of actually getting some kind of non-Nintendo portable game system.

Been seeing more folks do "my 9 games" lists, which made me think back to when I did this one. It's interesting to look back 6 months and realize how many games just didn't cross my mind in the moment. Might do a revised list, but it's so hard to narrow it down to 9!

I feel so silly for not thinking about the possible connection between Zelda's ability to seal Calamity Ganon in BotW and her ability to rewind in TotK until Nintendo's Zelda card quiz.

To be clear, I think it's unreasonable to attach a camera to one's home at all (even in the name of home defense). I think we could all do with less recording technology being sold to us as protective while working as our own surveillance that impacts everyone.
