Interested in health, data, and ethnicity? In the wake of COVID-19, HDR UK set up a Special Interest Group on Ethnicity Coding Standards and welcomed me and many many others to take part. It was a great example of open-collaboration that resulted in this paper in Nature Medicine.

We compared brain tumour incidence rates in Japan (lower) to those in Japanese Americans (lowest) and US NHW populations (highest). Conducted over 4 years and 3 continents, all a credit to the US NCI! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

In November, 2024, a Working Group of 22 scientists (including me!) met at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in Lyon, France, to finalise their evaluation of the carcinogenicity of hydrochlorothiazide, voriconazole, and tacrolimus. www.iarc.who.int/wp-content/u...
