I finished ME: Andromeda!! 🚀💫 I believe that had they cut 60% of unnecessary fluff in the form of semi-open world design and convoluted but forgettable side quests, it would've been a great game. The main story and loyalty missions are AMAZING and it’s sad most people won’t see that. Solid 3/5 🌟

Continued Tyler Edlin's Color and Light course this time on atmospheric lighting. I did a 15 minute color exercise based on artstation.com/artwork/EvaAbv and then applied the colors to my own thumbnails to practice if I understood what I was working with. Kept color harmony in mind too!

After suggestions, I ended up deciding on this color key for this piece! Once again I'll emphasize that THIS is what progressing through an artwork looks like: LOTS of iterations, trial and error, of what works and doesn't through the subtlest of changes! And help from friends along the way! 😆❤️

I tried unifying the blueish greens-yellows so the pink focus of the piece is much more pronounced. I will be honest, actually thinking through your paintings is a fun process hahaha

When I observe it in practice, while I did choose opposite colors on the spectrum, the distribution of the colors are too even that this it's not giving that dynamic feel to the piece just yet (points to the first point). I might double down on the pink/reds to bring the colors out more 🤔

Watched Tyler Edlin's Color and Light class on harmony to other night with friends and tried to put the knowledge we acquired into practice! I don't think I'm quite there yet but I liked fleshing out the colors for my previously B/W sketch of my OC Qinghua (清華)

5. Feeling seen! It helps fellow artists when they see you sharing your unconventional progress to feel less insecure if theirs isn't as neat either. They're not a worse artist for not having a structured process; sometimes it really is a bunch of paintbrush blotches and frankensteined photo refs.

4. Normalize being an ARTIST In the digital age where "art = content", not all of us can keep up with being a content machine. Not all of us can pump out 20 finished works/month. Sometimes the best we can do is a lot of messy WIPs and a finished work. That's okay, doesn't make you less of an artist!

While I will constantly struggle with posting the messy part of my works, I think sharing more of it has made me feel more human in today's landscape. Moral of the story: your art process, no matter how messy, is important because it makes your artworks fully yours. Keep arting, love y'all 🫶
