Not cold enough for a full duvet regime change (although I will be scouring the Prime sale later tonight for a new 15/16 tog duvet) but cool enough in the mornings/over night that an extra blanket is a good shout (also as I can shove it off if the day gets hotter while asleep foe work)

First batch cook of the month is, appropriately enough, a recipe from the book Dracula. Tweaked it a bit (added Quorn instead of beef mince & used pasta instead of rice this time), but it turned out pretty damn tasty 😋 🧛

Flu jab then a very lazy day. Didn't really feel like doing much after NHS stabbing, so audiobooks and random naps were the order of the day.

2nd year of 'Mandolorian & Child' calendar has had several repeats, so am thinking of switching it up but have no clue (as per!) 🤔

Move from Audible to Libro.fm finally complete. I have used up all my credits and have 2 weeks to finish the free-with-membership books I have in my library. I do have some pre-orders on there, but it's more hassle to cancel & reallocate the credits. Besides, I have other unread books on there too.

So my Reddit account has been given a warning...for suggesting that hairspray is a legal substitute for pepper spray...within a thread where there are replys about illegal immigrants also being illegal and bad for the UK. Yeah...I'm the bad influence here 🙄

Times like this I REALLY like working nights, when everyone is asleep and the bathroom door had to be taken off and left off (for the moment) to do the new flooring.

New bath finally sorted enough to have a shower (bath, screen & tiles on that side of the bathroom). I've been keeping "clean" with baby wipes and whores baths in the sink, but haven't been able to wash my hair and boy does that feel so goooood *le happy sigh*

Don't visit/phone the GP office, book on the website. No physical appointments, a clinician will contact by phone. No phone appointments, messages to call the pharmacist instead. And this is progress?

My energy levels have previously scuppered my attempts at cinema going over the past few weeks, but the past (and probably following) few days my body has conspired to keep me away. *groans at body hijinx* just because the new Cineworld app is a shit show does not mean I want to stop going at all 😵‍💫

So of course the drive that isn't working is the one I really want to be working. I can get back all the various video, comic and audio files on the other drives but the buggered drive has various documents for house & personal stuff, some of which I can't get anywhere else. 1/2

I was a bit mad at Princess for peeing on the bed (not super mad because of her increasingly dodgy back legs), but much less so after finding out that the cover on my mattress is waterproof underneath, so a quick wash of that and the duvet will sort it out 😁

Just under 15 mins each way to/from the hospital and not even a twinge in my back on either part. The rest of me is knackered, as am massively unfit, but tired I can deal with. Looks like the physio/standing desk combo is working 🤞

The last of the shoes on Vinted have gone now, so that's one place I can save space when we (eventually!) move. Am thinking I will do another cull, as we come into the cooler months and I have to take out a bit of the winter stuff I had packed away (originally supposed to be a summer move).

New desk all setup and bags of bits tidied away 😁 Am off for 4 days now, so have time to sort out new blackout material for windows before next shift on friday, so all other jobs can wait until tomorrow 😴

My room is a bit if a mess at the moment due to old desk contents being a bit all over the place in preparation for old desk deconstruction & new desk insertion, but Princess is always able to make herself comfortable in any situation

New desk arriving today (hopefully), so am tagging all my cables for easy setting up after old desk is disassembled and new desk is in situ. Am off for 7 days, so can take my time setting it up properly 😁

Right, my vision seems to have cleared (think cataracts if you've had them or seeing through a plain net curtain if not), so on to the next stage of hair colour (I have had ginger roots for long enough!)

🤞 tomorrow will be less migraine + nausea inducing temps, as well as rhis weekend. Am also away next week (Mon - Fri) and apparently (🤞) the local weather is more bearable there/then

000

Taz @cynicalcylon.bsky.social · 14/08/2026

Not well written (from a mostly-literature degree student/book obsessive POV). No resolution arc for main character (a whiney little bitch that has no change in character from age 12-18 how?!?). Psycho-hosebeast of a writer (thank you Waynes World!) WHY are people still engaging??

020

Taz @cynicalcylon.bsky.social · 14/08/2026

Not a great day today. Started "today" with a few hours of heat-induced nausea. Had to go to Post Office this morning & my back *REALLY* did not like that (had to "rest" about a dozen times). Last minute house viewing (although the woman was pleasant and sensible...a lot aren't). No cinema tonight.

Put some Blu-rays on Vinted last night and they are all gone this morning. Have a few more ready to go I'll do tonight (am copying to hard drive first). Physio said that the sit/stand desk I have been contemplating is an excellent idea so am hoping a few more sales will help with that fund sooner.

Taz @cynicalcylon.bsky.social · 07/08/2026

That was literally one of the most productive appointments I've ever had at that GP. Sam the Physio was pleasant, understanding, thorough and generally very helpful. Also perimenopausal herself so gave me a couple of tips for that too 😉

Booked for Spider-Man this morning (after work), so slept late yesterday so I wouldn't fall asleep in the middle. Now don't feel like going out, but am far too awake to sleep 🙄 I have a Physio appointment tomorrow morning @ 11am, so not an issue being a bit off on my sleep hours *le shrug*
